Blazin 97
Well first off I'm back, I have been busy these last few months launching a pirate FM station in the Boston area with fellow deejays and college buddies. Anyways it seems like internet radio is one big processing war. Who has the better processing, who has the louder and clearer stream. Who has the best sounding stream is what it all boils down to for advantages in the internet market. Not signal strengths. What is the best proccessed internet radio station you have ever heard? riverregionmedia
it all comes down to what sounds the best, i'm using sound soluton with an omnia preset and it makes my rock really stand out. also, having the right set of speakers/studio monitors is a plus. listen and see for yourself http://thexonline.net

GKIye
I guess processing is important to both internet and FM projects but the taste of listeners are different, and it depends a lot to the used speakers set (basic pc speakers untill advanced sound systems) ... they all give an other experience to the listener adding more bass can sound awesome to one and can sounds terrible to an other ... etc etc I try to stream an almost neutral sound, listeners can add more bass or treble where needed ... Visit and listen @ BW !
EricVdM
GK you are right, it all depends on the speaker and the instalation (PC speakers or other soundsystem) they use and what listener want to hear, I use also a neutral sound on my internet station, it's like a CD they sound neutral on the PC speakers and if you play it on your soundsystem it sounds totally different and you can add bass etc. wath you like to hear. wsimkins
I try to stream an almost neutral sound, listeners can add more bass or treble where needed ... Us too. We do allot of streaming to businesses through their stereo systems. Streamning as close to neutral as posssible makes it easier to adjust their levels and make it sound good to their customers. Brutish Sailor
A big factor is the KBPS as well. Try to squeeze stereo out of a 32KBPS 44.1 .mp3 and it sounds like an artifact graveyard. It all boils down to basics... 1) The cleaner the source, the cleaner the copy for broadcast. 2) Consistency with source. Get your music from as few different sources as possible. If your having to MP3gain every upload session, and its showing ALL SORTS of different numbers, I dont care how much processors you use to compromise, it just don't sound right. Truth be told, everyone has their own preference. Some people like professional sound, that warm FM color...Some like that Fresh pirate sound of 32k with a cheapo USB headset that pops at every other 5 words. If you have TRUE die hard fans, the ones that interact...They will write and tell you what a good show you have and that the musics processing sounds off. If theres no complaints, Why mess with the working wagon wheel? A lesson I learned the hard way. Best I have heard in processing? C-hits hands down. That German/international show is top on the TOP of my processing picks,GK always gets my pick... Very warm color to it. Even though the BEST stream I have ever heard was a 44.1k stereo AAC+ 48kbps. Something about that sweet spot...... KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
