MADcHATTER
We use a yahoo messenger option on our website and our DJ's share an id so listeners can request live. Some of our DJ's (such as myself) have a phone interface we hook into our mixers, or listeners can use Email. Some of our DJ's used to use K7.net where listeners can make a recorded voice request by calling a phone number that can be played on air (mp3 format) and sent via email to the DJ, but no one is using that option anymore. 1Radio
I have a custom shoutbox on http://1radio.org - it allows the listener to request a song, shout or post a private message to the DJ and rate the show. In the backoffice, the DJ can post replies and also indicate the status of the requests (coming up, playing, played, unavailable) and see listener number and ratings in real time. When I broadcast, it additionally integrates with my SAM system to say whether or not I have the track, suggest other songs by same artist, queue up the track and (previously) indicate what time it will play out (I had to disable this last aspect since it contravenes the licence ). It can work with other my DJs also, but they MUST have their SAM DB accessible across the web.

1Radio
our DJ's used to use K7.net where listeners can make a recorded voice request by calling a phone number that can be played on air (mp3 format) I've not tried K7, but I do have my own number on yac.com that provides the same facility (but it costs the caller slightly more than a regular local call in the uk). My current approach is a voice recording applet built straight into the website that lets someone post a voice message using their pc mic. The file is then sent via email and can be played out in the programme stream - but not before its been checked for naughtiness and edited if required ;)
dj.plazma
My requests are handled in a number of ways. Through the SAM generated request script and router through my own request proxy (from Festerhead). If I'm doing a live webcast, via email. If I'm doing a live webcast via Stickam via the chat window. P.S. Anyone else absolutely hate the one-hour time limit for playing a request? BWorld
i use a bit of all three. I have a contact form, as well as an instant request system I wrote for SAM broadcaster. I also have a toll free number. http://www.k94online.com ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? AndrasTolaria
The request system for SAM when setup is fully automatic. http://requests.deadoraliveradio.info for example.
NVnone
I think the phone line option is better. I would rather send an SMS message with my request rather than sending an email. Maybe its just me being lazy, but its faster to send an SMS message than it is to log in to my email and send it that way.
NickolasM.
I suggest a shoutbox on your website. Fast and Free! Shoutboxes are okay i Guess. But then you get these people whom flood the line. I Use Radio Dj Panel. All they need to do is enter their name (not needed but they can) And Fill out what song they want. To see a demo at my site click here. And then all the DJ has to do is click on a link inside the DJ panel. Simple as that. And of course you need a username and password to get into the panel. If you would like to test the panel with Administrator Rights Click Here. IF you would like a installion for it click Here. Or you can download it and set it up your self here. Anyways. If I had a Real Radio station (one I can listen to in a car) I would prefer the Phone method. But I would accept both. With the phone method you will not get people who will send you TONS of emails begging for a song. Also if I was a listener I would prefer calling in my request due to the fact that I know that someone has heard it.

I do not understand why you have to wait a hour. I think it is a stupid rule. I understand that they (the listner) can not Tell you what time to play a song or say something. But a Hour. I mean Really, Come on. Ten Minutes at the most, No? They must have had nothing better to do so they must have wanted to P@#$ off all the DJs. LeafpileRadio
We are FM radio and our phone lines blow up all the time. We do use the email system as well, but there is a service you can get for a short code text number to text requests in. I've found that it works really well. SouthOMike
With our site, being 'on demand', it would be e-mail for sure. It's already in the can, so to speak, and any requests would need to come via e-mail. How many actually write to your stations? We've seen perhaps 4 in the past 8 months...
