NickolasM.
Hey all, I am sort of thinking of becoming a VO for here. As you may know, I am a kid (13yo but if you want me to sound like a kid, 13 and 96.61%). Christmas is around the corner and I really have nothing on my wish list except for some more RAM... What microphone should I get? And where can I get it? I'm like the rest of you (Cheapies) I want something good, but something cheap. I need a microphone to suggest to my relatives. Maybe something we can pick up at walmart or Radioshack. Also I am in need of software, I would only be using audacity if I started. Thanks Ahead of Time. - Nick
brandon_g
I would suggest a headset microphone. Just because it's good quality. Here's a tutorial on how to broadcast live on the internet free it has some stuff on it about mic's. click here to see the tutorial if that don't help another reason to get a headset mic is because it's portable it does pick up typing on the key board depending on the type you get. hope this helps _____________ brandon Broadcasting Duo is one of the fastest growing and rapidly expanding Broadcasting websites. frankallen
Hey Nick Honestly it depends on how much cash you have to spend, What is your budget ? Maybe the shure sm57 or sm58 samson c3u or the samson g1 check out ebay there are always good deals to find there. Headset mics hummm there great for msn or skype chatter but for vo work they dont have the quality . kiwiborn
here is a brilliant mic that has just come on the market specifically designed for vo people, by a well know vo chappie. Harlan Hogan.. http://voiceoveressentials.com/VO-1A-Harlan-Hogan-Signature-Series/M/B002SMYUFY.htm It is VERY affordable for an excellent quality mic and I have one coming for myself.. Hopefully it will be here in the next couple of days.. Comparable with mics in excess of $600.00 and more.. And honey, age does not matter. There is work for all ages in the vo industry. Good for you for going for it kiddo!

JBVoice
Ha! I'm gonna ask Santa for that microphone for X-Mas! Wait a minute...LOL Yeah, I've heard great things about that mic, but to be honest Nickolas, your better off just asking for a handheld dynamic microphone since your just starting out. They tend to work well with younger voices, at least in my experience. As Frank mentioned, the shure sm57 or sm58 are both great mics. Once you get more involved, and your voice matures..I'd recommend either a condenser microphone or the Shure SM7B. NickolasM.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I would say the budget of my relatives is about 100 Dollars (if that is not too much already!) I may be able to collect money from them instead (because I have no wishlist) and buy a better one. I am currently using a Logitech Headset. Looking at what you have suggested so far, The Behringer looks the best (For Price anyways :D) Ill let you all know what I get when I do. If you have more suggestions let me know. - Nick
