US Senate Judiciary Passes Shield Law

The Senate Judiciary Committee has passed the Free Flow of Information Act, which would set standards for when federal courts can and cannot force reporters to reveal confidential sources. A number of states have such laws, but this bill, which passed in committee 14-5, would be the first journalist shield law at the federal level. The House Judiciary Committee passed a version of the bill earlier this year.
