A Fond Farewell.

The entire month of December and I believe even most of November, I never logged in here because it doesn't do me any good. I post my station here and get no listeners out of it. Why? Because we all have stations we're trying to promote, that's why. No listeners login here. I need a community of listeners to talk to, not a community of djs.

Sorry, I'm done. I don't need a site that's not going to help me out. Some of the tips have been helpful, but a lot of it was stuff I already knew.

As far as hosting goes, check out my post I just posted under hosting... HostingDevil.com - you should really check it out. shoutcast hosting CHEAP. Beats ANYTHING I've seen so far. But shame.. I can't get listeners. So there's no point in me spending the money for hosting anymore, is there? My site, thedarksideradio.com - I'm giving it to someone else to use for their radio.

I thought this site would help. I guess I thought wrong.

Cheers!

Sorry to see you go mate, to be honest. I set up Broadcasting World for DJ's to get the best advice and the best resources to keep their stations alive and kicking. Im sorry that you havent found what you were looking for, i do suggest searching the forums or creating a new thread to get the exact answers to your questions.

Soon, there will be a stations guide and software for people to download and listen to your stations, but its just when i have the time. Also, if you really need listeners, advertise in places that are relavent and most likely where listeners would be. For example, on news sites, blogs and around your local city.

If you have any suggestions for the site, feel free to shout them out! I cannot read any members minds and we need our members to supply us with suggestions to improve our site.

No hard feelings ...

and NO We are not all BIG fellows with HUGE stations ...

We are all just "broadcasters" + fellow members who are interested into radio, media, streaming media (audio and video), production, voice-overs etc ...

Lately BW registrated even some new members who where looking for "how to become a voice-over" ... All these members have got an answer to point them to the what and hows of the needed skills

"Some of them" had some potential, are happy with the results and are honest to don't tell "We are now voice-over" ... NO they are glad they received some help and advice from all of Us and they can use their skills to make try-out reads at the "free voice over section"

If We all "knew" that you where looking for listeners ... Why you didn't made any post about it ... or asked for advice ?

We are here to help anyone who's having a question - At that time I guess you would have received tons of websites where you are able to list your station at every corner of this Globe Earth

I'm rather sure that by using the search tool at BW you can find some older posts with interesting details ...

Ok ... Myself .. I'm not the forum guy, believe Me, however as European this Australian based forum gave Me something that I never had found at any other place at the www ... so I started by making some contributions, I produced some IDs etc, made replies to any post who had my interest ...

in human language : I did an input to a community ... and thats how it works

If you have nearly 20 posts in more or less 4 Months and you are that honest to tell Us that during the past 2 Months you didn't made any visit ...

Well .. be honest, don't blame Us as member or BW as forum

Lately I achieved my 1000th post and have already 793 +reps

Honestly I never received that much XMas cards from people into the real world

I agree, James ain't a Holy man, he is just as anyone else a human being and to Me and many other people he is doing a hell of a job, but nobody can ask "everything" at the same time ... At that moment all should collaps

So James, his admin and crew members and We as member are trying to create and share a peacefull place at the www all about broadcasting.

What is more beautyful in life than music ?

Well We all who are daily busy and who are into music We are all peacefull people who wanna share Our ideas and visions to the world ... people don't have to agree all the time ...

and honestly BW is a spot at the www where you find people from almost every country.

I wish you a good journey, take some time off, but keep always the gate open, don't close to much doors behind you ... keep an eye on what is happening into the world ... also that one of BW

Take care and good luck !

Sorry to see you go, though I agree with everyone else above me. You must be an active user of BW in order to take full advantages of it. Also, if you already know the stuff on here...why not bring up stuff you don't know and see what replies you get? Either way, its always sad to see someone leave, so no hard feelings and good luck with your station :)

You can get listeners by being listed on itunes and similar, not through BW though! This is an Information and ideas sharing site- and a good one too! No, I mean the BEST one!

I hope you stay around here-it's worth it!

If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net

Thank You!

I was led to believe by David that I could get listeners here... or at least it sounded that way, he probably didn't mean to lead me on... I never really had many questions about what I was doing... If I did, I wound up figuring out the answer on my own... usually how it goes, for me, anyway. Even his week long blog about my station didn't garner any listeners for me, and I directed people to it!

It's not this site's fault, nor anyone else's fault. I advertise on IRC all the time, where it's populated, and since halloween, my listeners have "forgotten" to log in... I put my station in the topic, I advertise live, WHEN I play on IRC... and my bot greets people with "tune in to..." and I get no listeners.

It's not that I don't advertise. It's more or less that internet radio is dead. It's so much easier to hit the power switch on an AM/FM radio than it is to login to listen online. And usually, people can find a local station they're happy with. I can't... that's why I started my station in the first place... to play music I like, not what record companies dictate the people should hear. I have more variety than the local variety station does... and yet... no listeners.

People don't care anymore. They're so used to accepting what's popular that they're not willing to give a station like mine a try. I'm done. My station is dead. As of Jan 16th, I will no longer pay for the server. My buddy's taking over thedarksideradio.com with the stipulation that I get to dj whenever I want and that I'm the one doing the graphics. Other than that... I'm done. So why would I need this site if I'm not broadcasting anymore? Overall, that's why I'm leaving... not because the site was useless to me... I did learn a few things. And I thank you for that. Roadkill out. May the Force Be With You All.

I hate to disagree, by 2012 Internet Radio will overtake mp3 players (Source). Alot of people use internet radio at work, using a mobile device, at home, and even in the car these days.

My mate attended CES this year, one thing that he noticed is that Internet Radio, 3D visuals and Tablet PC's are all popular products. Satellite and HD radio are doomed compared to Internet Radio. Not only is it popular to listeners, its popular to broadcasters. People want their own freedom to broadcast and it makes it a competitive market. Its great!

Now about Broadcasting World not attracting listeners, we dont really need to. Its all about the broadcasters here! BUT as many of the staff and Pro Members have been watching over the last few weeks, i have developed a new Station Directory which is due for release very soon. So if you are interested, i am happy to show you what i have created via PM. ;)

I hope you do stick around, you are full of great advice and sharing is caring :) Good luck to your station in the future, and we all hope to see you back here when Internet Radio has taken off!

Hey All,

Just my thoughts here but what with the increasing number of web stations around the world wide web if you want listeners to come to you station they need to First know about you What advertising have you done ? you should be posting flyers where you can telling everyone about your station all the time google ads, itunes, irc, shoutcast directories etc get your site listed with google, yahoo and other search engines there are so many ways. But when you get them you need to keep them internet stations are everywhere what makes your better?

My point is you can only get out as much as you put in.

Regards & sorry to see you go

Frank
