JBVoice
Hi guys, I'm hoping to get some help setting up some sort of client login portal on my website. I am trying to set up something where my clients can go to a page on my site, enter a user name/password and access their own files whenever they want. I am only doing this for the prepaid select clients, but I do have unlimited storage, bandwidth and ftp accounts. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to do? Could someone shed some light and possibly explain more how this could be done? -JB PS. Voice overs is my thing...NOT web design! lol Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. billh
JB, Check this out it might help, you can set one up for each client. Or in your control panel of your site. You should be able to password protect folders/files. http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/ Bill "I'm Retired" Donations PayPal.Me/artistview . I only do dry reads, if you want FX's you'll have to add them, I might add them. Unkle B
It would essentially be a membership site. You can do this with some plug ins. Here is a link to explain it better. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/249762 Couple of plug ins http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members-only/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/register-plus/ http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-e-commerce/ Some plugins are free while others aren't. Wordpress is very easy to use as a CMS. I'm just a high school educated truckdriver (1988) and I figured it out pretty dang quick. I havent done anything with a membership plugin yet but from what I have read they look really easy. Membership sites seem to be the way to go on a lot of stuff right now. And I like your idea of the pre paid stuff with the access. Is it just for a faster way of clients to get there finised stuff? If so you could probably do it with a plugin called download monitor and just password protect their page. If you are doing ftp stuff why not set up a directory for a client and have them use that? Shouldnt have to do anything with Wordpress or anything else. Just give them a password and a link to download filezilla(it's free) then they can access their directory anytime with out having to log into a site.
