ajruss
First James didnt know where to put this move it if need be. Beware when adding new djs When you hire a new dj make sure they have a air check or something to go by dont take their word that they know what they are doing.K94rocks.com is a rock station I mean rock is in our name. When I hire someone I make it clear that they can only play classic rock ,new rock or indie rock .So last night had a new dj start and the only thing I could say was WTF when he started playing dance music. After 45mins and 50 listeners dropped off and him not replying to my im asking wtf? did I drop him.I have worked hard for 4 years to get where we are .I am not going to let someone ruin it in one night .Just beware of the unprofessional djs out there. And you wont have to wake up to this What a story from last night. 23 minutes on the air and BAM!! K94Rocks dot com is run by an illiterate, uneducated dweeb. What a story. NEWS to FOLLOW!! JBVoice
Some of the stations I have worked with were run by morons, just letting anyone join and run a show. What happened? Well, the station closed down. From my experience, you always want to ask for a demo or aircheck of their voice and a list of songs they've played in the paste. The last station I worked with required the first show to be prerecorded, this also lets the station owner preview and evaluate it before it airs. The station I'm with now, I am the only live presenter and the way the station layout is, that just works best...our listeners like non stop commercial free music. You also need to watch out for these "kids" that think they are 'all that'. When I ran a station, I had kids all the time sending demo tapes trying to deepen their voice with pitch...lol Bottom line, yeah...sorry to hear about your station, dropping 50 listeners sucks! Last week the electricity went out at my studio and my show disconnected and lost 150 listeners in 10 seconds :/ -jb Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. johny c
Theres always the chance you may get someone like that, even people who have been with you for a time and they change. I was station manager for a community station and it was nothing but trouble and stress. Dj's with ego's that couldnt get their head's through the door. That's why I run my own station now , and Im very fussy what comes out of it. wildun
Precisely k94rocks! I stopped usng DJs because of the bs. Yep, I'm a jukebox, but I don't have those additional worries. I play music. New old or whatever. I have a hard time turning my station over to amateurs, just can't do it.
JBVoice
Wildun, most people don't even want to hear a DJ on internet radio, unless it is a talk show lol. I barely talk during my show...I have a behind the scenes webcam for it and thats where I do all my talking. I'll intro new featured artists and maybe announce a contest, but thats about it Jon Bova "Successful people have libraries. wildun
You have some good DJs AJ, I know because I listen to your station . I wouldn't mind having live DJs but I just never had any luck with them. It became to much hassle for me.

rftkradio
I use a majority of pre recorded shows , the only live shows are my own ones and some from Live feeds from dj's that I've known for a while so know what they do and how they work. If i get contacted by anyone asking about doing a show ,I ask around and check them out , when i first started running a station , I had the ones that wanted to supply shows , they'd do 2 shows then not bother , one even had the nerve to ask if I wanted to take their new show after they let me down a few months ago
