.asx

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out how to create an asx file for my shoutcast stream to allow my listeners to tune in with WMP. I do have WMP embedded in my website at the moment, but I would like people to be able to use WMP on their computer to listen so they aren't restrained into having to sit on my website if they choose to use WMP instead of itunes or winamp.

I would be very grateful if someone could perhaps either explain to me how to create such a file, or point me in the direction of another resource that does.

Also if someone could help me in the same way about producing files to play my stream in Quicktime and Real Audio Player that would be super super cool of you.

Just a quick update I found out how to make an ASX file from the microsoft website. I did try the method described in Saint's guide book, but that method actually didn't work. Thankfully though WMP linked me through to a microsoft page that was able to tell me how to do it properly.

Saint's guide book did prove useful for creating a .ram file although as yet I've been unable to test it.

I'm still looking for a method to create a quicktime file though, so any one who is able to help me out in that regard would be magic.

Cheers
