KT37
Hello everybody, I'm looking for how to make the same "telephone" voice effect (not really a telephone effect) than the one which is used in a lot of radios in the UK (especially Global Radio Radios). I think there's something with removing bass, but I can't find how to make it with that "punchy" effect. I join you a sample of this effect (heard on Galaxy Manchester). Thanks, Kenny. Joonas Piiroinen
Hi KT37 ! That is pretty simple effect to make. If you're using Adobe Audition like I do. Go to Effects -> Filters -> Scientific Filters. Choose Butterworth and High Pass. Cutoff: 250 Hz and Order: 10. Then press OK. I've got pretty good results with the scientific filter in Audition and I like it. You can decrease the order number if you want to get more bass area to your voice. With Order 5 you have telephone type of voice but you still have the low area still in the wave. If you don't still have the punchiness you're looking for, decrease the cutoff (200Hz for example). Hopefully this was helpful! Joonas

JamesAllen
Hey Joonas, Awesome tip! I've just tried that in Audition to process a drop I did recently and it sounds superb. I played with a bit of production for a quick test and quite like how it turned out - mix attached. Would love any feedback on this. I know it's just a quick 10 minute job but I'd like to improve my production as much as I can. I'm going to favourite that effect - great stuff. James. The next step is working out how to effectively use it to break up the vocal and fly it across the sound stage.. ;) James.
