Brutish Sailor
Its hard to find free SMS nowadays. What are you trying to accomplish with this? DJ comms? You ever consider SHOUTRTS and having all your DJ's connect to a messenger service? KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego

Yes you can send sms with skype if you pay the monthly fee and its not much. And i think you recive your replay on your own mobile i think this is what it says about it > You will receive an SMS with a verification code. Enter this code in the box to validate your mobile. All SMS messages sent from Skype will now show this number as the sender ID and your contacts will be able to SMS you back to this mobile number. IAmDJBlu
Skype works for me, Here in the states thre are some services that send sms directly to an email account, but why pay when most phones can already send sms messages to emails?
IAmDJBlu
or im sure a Google SMS Account wouyld also be a good alternative if you set it up corectly. Brutish Sailor
For the cost of that service, you could start a 50/50 service and make a killing. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
MixStream.net
I think this might be useful http://zong.com/ Very easy to set up, your listeners just send a message to your number and it can be posted to a PHP script (or whatever you use).

MixStream.net
Sorry, I must have misunderstood. The way I use zong is for a radio station I run - it allows people to text their message/shout/request to a number (text a keyword and then their message to 82820) and the message gets posted to a PHP script on our server which displays a page to our DJs with all of the messages. The person texting pays 20p + their normal SMS cost and it's free for us. They have different numbers that charge different amounts for the text, so you can make money from each text if you want to (up to about £1.50 per text). I obviously misunderstood when you said "i was just looking for a text service where people can text request or shout out".

samohajo
Yes there's quite a few you could try. I've been looking for one too to raise money for charity with a short code. It looks like most of them offer a similar range of services so if you are new to using them maybe go for one that has some video tutorials and a user-friendly interface? ____________________________ free advertising | classifieds | jobs
MixStream.net
Yeah, that Zong do seem to have stopped the service now - even for existing users. I haven't seen anything similar without having to pay upfront.
