Server

hey welcome!

well.. firstly you need a server. i recommend using streamsolutions.co.uk or stream101.com. now the type of server you choose is the type of sound quality you will have. so the higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality! now once you have your server, your going to need winamp, and the shoutcast dsp. go to the shoutcast site at shoutcast.com and download the software!

you should follow my tutorial here: ftopic140_how-to-set-up-a-shoutcast-server%C7%83.html

and about software.. free?

you can either use winamp or use direttore ( http://www.mixtime.com/ )

if you have any questions or you need any help.. just ask :)

shoutbox is a good idea, just i saw in Radio DJ panel that you can se request but i dont find a script so ppl can send the request

hey, what dj panel are you using? im glad you got the server working :)

if your using a panel, read the readme file. it should contain a code to place on your site for users to request :)

a shoutbox is a good idea but you get ALOT and i mean ALOT of spammers unless you have some sort of security, i recommend sticking to a dj panel, that way you and other dj's can see all the messages instead of scrolling through the shoutbox :)

good luck, if you need anymore support.. i am writing some little things on each panel so you know how to set one up :) but please dont hesitate to ask :)

ok

setting up a station is not that difficult

there are plenty of shoutcast tutorials

i use SAM3 instead of winamp and am quite happy with it

i host the low BW stream from the home computer

and i got a great deal from streamthenet.com

since u are starting out u may want to start with your own computer and if u wish contract a service to host your stream

as is the case bandwidth is the currency of the internet

peace
