Chart countdown show

Recommended Posts

Hello,

As I mentioned in the other thread, I do some contract work for a small radio station here in NZ. I'm asking this query here as I don't want to make an "official" request to the various media outlets that make chart countdown shows yet, lest they think I'm a PD or something.

I would like to inquire about getting a chart countdown show of some sort on the station I work for. Budget is minimal. I was thinking something like Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, Casey Casem's Classic American Top 40 from the 1980s - which we found out was quite expensive...and our budget is minimal here! or The World Chart Show with Lara Scott. Other (non-countdown) options included Backtrax 90s with Kid Kelly.

I guess what I'm asking is - is there a free (or very cheap) weekly chart countdown show available to download, suitable for a CHR type radio station, that could fill between 2-4 hours every week?

Thanks in advance :)

Not sure how they put their chart together but the songs are played across commerical radio staions.

Maybe contact Spencer James who does the show and he will be able to confirm everything.

If you want hear the show our station playes this on Sunday's from 5pm GMT. visit www.magichitzradio.com and click on the media players at the button of the page.

Not sure there is many other around, the only other one I can think of is a chart show that is called Fresh Hit 40 Uk this is presented by a guy called Jason Scott details on him can be found here http://www.thesuperstation.info/ he use to affiliate the show but not sure if he still does that way again best to contact him and ask him.

Regards

Graham

Thanks for all your suggestions :) As a question, does anyone here actually play Casey Casem's American Top 40, the current American Top 40 or Rick Dee's Top 40 on their station? How much do you pay for it (if you don't mind me asking)?

Just seen this thread and thought I would say hello and answer some of your questions.

The chart is compiled from station air-play. All the stations that take the programme agree to send their playlist (if they have one) through to us, and we then compile it to represent what stations are playing around the globe. It can make for some interesting songs appearing. At present it is broadcast on around 30 odd stations, although that is expected to grow shortly.

The show is available free of charge, on the proviso that the programme is broadcast in full.

GKREurope, we do have a showbiz news service, however the bulletins are only available to those who broadcast the programme, if you were interested in that, you would be welcome to use our showbiz service as well :).

Thanks Graham for spreading the word about the chart, and if anyone is interested in taking the programme, feel free to get in touch - http://www.expatchart.com and click on the contact us link.

Hi Spencer,

Thanks for your response, sorry for the delay in replying. Do you have any stations playing the show in NZ? "Ex-Pat" implies that the show would mainly appeal to British listeners living overseas, is that right?

I have contacted the Edge already, but I produce the Fresh Hit40UK with Jason Scott (already mentioned). Anyone wanting more info, get in touch by PM or email me davericktaylor@yahoo.co.uk and we could come to some sort of deal/arrangement at a low cost.

Also, produce The Retro Chart Countdown for Richard Todd for syndication featuring vintage top 40s from the 60s/70s/80s featuring 46, 43, 40, 37, 34, 31, 28, 25, & 22 years ago over a 9 week period. Contact me for either.

Hi The Edge

We have just gone on air in New Zealand on a station called Coast FM, however if you are in a different area to theirs then feel free to get in touch.

The programme was originally aimed at the European holiday and expatriate market, however the programme has grown and grown beyond even my initial expectations. However the brand has become strong so the name has remained.

If anyone is interested in taking the programme, which is supplied free of charge, then please get in touch via the website - www.expatchart.com.

Regards

Spencer

I am seriously impressed Spencer, you have a great radio voice and it is very very well put together. Sadly I will not be able to use it (Even though I would love to) as it is based at expats and the name will no doubt but a lot off.

Like I said though you have done a great job on this and I am just sorry AND upset that I wont be able to use it :(

Congrats on a job well done m8y.

I have got Spencer's demos and we are going to start broadcasting this show next week, I must say that is a very well put together show and very professional so if you are looking for syndicated content then this show should be on top of your list.
