SHOUTcast 2.0 Broadcaster Tools & Platform:

Great news for SHOUTcast broadcasters and developers! We overhauled the engine to go with the shiny new paint. The completely re-written SHOUTcast 2.0 directory platform (aka YP2) and broadcaster tools (YP2 and tools already out on BETA) are a significant leap forward in the evolution of SHOUTcast. Some highlights include:

* All-new SHOUTcast YP2 protocol

* Real-Time metadata and stats reporting

* Static Station IDs!

* Streaming from port 80!

* Stream multiple stations from a single SHOUTcast server instance

* In-Stream metadata in standardized XML

* UTF-8 and international character support

* Support for multiple file-types including MP3, AAC+, FLAC, WAV and Ogg

* Improved server and stream security

Broadcasters: To take advantage of the new user facing features like real-time search you need to upgrade to SC 2.0, get in early and migrate ASAP! Find out how you can get started by visiting the broadcaster tools beta thread here.

Its good for web host, but horrible for broadcasters trying to avoid SC_Trans. A lot of the broadcasters are going to have headaches setting up the new SC2. I should set it up and make a tutorial.

The reason i say good for webhost is being able to do multiple source inputs. That means one server with multiple stations, and less server resources, as well as making it easier to put multiple stations on port 80.

I've been doing research and testing this out. No major issues so far.
