Airtime looks great, But its missing some major features.

Id love to see the ability to have a mic input for live streams but this seems to me missed on all web based radio automation software.

The only other problem I have with Airtime is that you can not DJ "On the fly" you must be on a schedule but you can work around this by making shows on schedule 24 hours long.

and lastly its only supported on Ubuntu although you can install it on CentOs if you do some digging.

Centova Cast is fantastic, though doesn't always sound amazing. Would probably only use it in a back-up situation.

What does this mean? Centova's sound is only based on the files and bitrate you give it.

Maybe he means Auto DJ ? Very hard to understand his point.

But Auto DJ in Centovacast sounds great to me. Believe me, anyone can screw up the settings and make it sound like garbage.

Yeah - sorry, I'm referring to the Auto DJ.

If I was running quite a serious station where I expected to make money, I probably wouldn't use the Centova Cast Auto DJ system for my automated programming. Don't get me wrong, it works great, however you won't get the same sound that you would if you were to use a desktop automation system.

I suppose it isn't built for that.

OMG! You are so wrong! Every word you wrote is so wrong! Please contact me if you would like for me to demo and explain how it works. I tested it for months on my personal station before establishing a relationship with Source Fabric to offer this platform to my company's clients. My station Rock Mauritius Radio has been powered with Airtime going on a year now. I can go live whenever I want and my show hosts can connect during their time slot too. My company has sold hundreds of Airtime plans in the past year with very few problems. The only draw back with Airtime is the statistics are not as detailed compared to Centova. So I have my Airtime streaming to my company's Shoutcast server, then to the listener. My clients that use Stream Licensing's service also use this method because Stream Licensing's platform does not work with Airtime's Icecast stream.

But I feel Airtime sounds more professional because of the fade control and is less work to schedule.

Forgive me for re opening this old thread but someone has asked about automation software and another user pointed out that there was this thread already but some of the posts go back a while. I have to agree with you on this 100% Jim, we have been implementing Airtime now on dedicated boxes for a little time but prior to that have been testing it in house extensively. It really is an awesome piece of software and with the exception of the stats as you say it beats centova hands down. Plus, being open source the forums are full of keen enthusiasts and if you have any queries you actually get better, sensible and much more helpful advice than you get from the likes of Centova despite paying them!

We are currently working with a couple of stats software companies to look at integrating our own stats along the lines of centova although there are other options suck as piwik, aw etc which are open source and with a bit of skill can be made to work well with it.

If you compare the drop down times and dates interface in the centova auto dj to the google calendar style interface in the airtime system it is not only more feature packed but so much easier to use... particularly loving the waveform preview to manually edit intros and ourtros as well as the watched folder setting.

Airtime in my opinion is a strong contender against anything else out there!

There was a recent posting comparing Centova and WHsonic and I was afraid to mention Airtime because I was afraid my post would be deleted. But I used Airtime for over a year and never considered using Centova again. The company I am with now has a very similar platform but 100 times better. It's basically similar but has detailed stats with another calender just for the breaks. I like the fact that my commercials, station ID's, sweepers, and etc. file names are not seen in the players and apps.

Out of curiosity, why would any post mentioning airtime get deleted? I mean, i presumed this forum was to talk about all aspects of radio and when something good is out there why not talk about it!! The forum isnt run by Centova is it? lol I know the platform of r******r (dont know if I can name them lol) and agree it is very good... have they considered whitelabeling or selling just the software to other companies like Centova do? We would be very interested in discussing that if there is an option! :) And, yes.. I also like the fact that sweepers etc are not displayed in meta... I have not looked at how they set this up... in SPL for example anything grouped as a spot sends no meta but I am presuming in airtime that they have some algorythm whereby files under a certain length are assumed to be jingles because even if you do nothing to "categorize" it just works!

Centova has evolved, but yes, Airtime still kills it hands down.

The biggest issue with airtime? Unmanned logic.

Most Streamers are running one man shows. Thats why Centova is so popular. But Airtime is great (if not the industry superior) for scheduling automation's with a lot of syndication's.

however, airtime used for clockwheels? I was extremely frustrated at its automation logic with simple wheels for music/sweep/promo/voicetrack automation's.

but shows? especially long ones? Far superior. Long shows (over an hour) have a way of breaking most automation's.
