javier
Hi, I am using centova cast (autodj) with icecast option and i am trying to get listed in icecast directory but i cant understand the icecast documentation and the centova cast documentation do not give to much info about how to do this. Any one knows how to configure centova cast / icecast / autodj to get listed in Icecast directory or yellow pages? http://www.lamegadeantes.com/megalogo.png
shoutcaststreaming
Yes, you put the information in the ADVANCED tab on Centovacast. Here is a write-up on what you need put put in there: http://www.icecast.org/spec.php SCS - Dedicated Bandwidth Servers Shoutcast / Icecast / Windows Media Transcoding - Auto DJ - Mobile Radio - FLASH Players - Auto DJ Broadcasting World's Stream Host of the Month

For getting listed I used this: http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi?action=add&sn=Oddsock+Server&listenurl=http://000.000.000.000:0000/oddsock.ogg&genre=Pop&b=64&type=Ogg+Vorbis Put in your IP and Port and change the Genre and bitrate to your choosing also and change the ogg+vorbis if you not using that. What info did you put in the mountpoint for the shoutcast relay? i get the IP and port thing but I didn't know what to do for mountpoint. I am doing some server testing for someone and they was asking if it was possible to relay a shoutcast stream through a centovacast icecast stream, I thought it was not possible. rockhost
I believe you can set the mountpoint to anything you wish as you will be creating it specifically for Icecast. Correct Javier? I am not that familiar with Icecast yet, can you give an example please? Numbers, letters?
rockhost
Oh you could use, "jamesdean" for example...so your url would be xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8000/jamesdean Really you can choose any mountpoint name. The defaults Centova uses are /live, /stream, and /autodj. If you use one of those be careful not to duplicate another mountpoint which may already exist, if you use Centova Cast. jamesdean
Not having much joy. I tried /stream and other words also but nothing works to relay the existing shoutcast server. See the attachment for what I originally had (the IP is real but blotted out for this pic)
rockhost
Okay, first try leaving the "Stream mount point" blank. Why? Because your Shoutcast stream doesn't have a mountpoint. Give that a shot, maybe include a restart, and post back... If it doesn't work we may need to adjust something else. Seth C - ROCKHOST.COM, Inc. jamesdean
OK with the stream mountpoint blank, when I restart the stream (which was not relaying) it will not start again. With at least the / in the stream mount point the stream will restart, but still not relay. I'm sorry if it appears like I'm hijacking the thread, I thought this was all relevant so posted here but if admin disagree I will start a new thread. rockhost
Yes, good point, use the "/" before the stream name in the form field. Well, when it doubt check the logs. Centova > View Logs. If you see anything useful please post it. Often times I find the error is also the answer! Seth C - ROCKHOST.COM, Inc. jamesdean
I cannot find anything relevant about this issue, the last few logs after trying again was these; [2010-08-06 15:34:22] DBUG slave/_slave_thread checking master stream list [2010-08-06 15:34:22] DBUG slave/check_relay_stream Adding relay source at mountpoint "/stream" [2010-08-06 15:34:22] DBUG source/source_apply_mount Applying mount information for "/stream" [2010-08-06 15:34:22] DBUG source/source_update_settings fallback /live [2010-08-06 15:34:22] DBUG source/source_update_settings on_demand set
rockhost
Hmm...I think using the same mountpoint as Centova Cast could make testing tricky. Why don't you use /jamesdean or /test and try again. Perhaps even PM me the Icecast2 Status url when you are done as well as the Shoutcast relay source. If you want... Seth C - ROCKHOST.COM, Inc. jamesdean
I know the shoutcast source is fine, whatever i put in the icecast panel will not work, even "/jamesdean" for example. Seems like it's a no go. I have even tried a couple of other shoutcast streams I have access to and still no good.
rockhost
Let's see here, it's hard to work on this blindly but I'll do my best to help you. 1. Make sure the Shoutcast server is set to "allow relay - yes". 2. I just read you should use "/" as "Stream mount point" in the Centova Cast form field for the Shoutcast mountpoint, try that instead of leaving "Stream mount point" completely blank as I mentioned before. Cross your fingers! Seth C - ROCKHOST.COM, Inc. Follow @rockhost on Twitter
jamesdean
Ok, fixed it, this is what I had to do, in the stream mount point box I just had "/" nothing else and the box below, the local mount point, you have to have "/stream". It seems having anything typed in after the "/" will not work in the first box. What you read Seth was correct, thanks for checking this out and for your assistance, this should help others also. Added attachment now.
rockhost
Good stuff, yeah the trick is to specify "/" as the Shoutcast relay mountpoint even though technically Shoutcast mountpoints don't exist. You can do this in Centova Cast as shown through your attachment, or in the Icecast config file as shown below: xx.xxx.xx.xx 8000 / /stream 1 Hopefully this will help somebody, yes.
