dlt123
Hi everyone, I want to buy another audio editing program to do my Voice Over work and I've been wondering about Adobe Audition. I'm currently using Ableton Live 5 and do not like how my stuff comes out. (Probably do to my abilities) I eventually will be buying Samplitude for my Host, when I get the funds, but for now I need a good Voice Over software package. I've been doing some research into the various versions of Audition and my findings seem to be that V2 is probably the worst of all versions, prompting V3... and V3 has major RAM, VST, system crashes and installation problems. So that leaves V1.5. I've read it's solid and works fine but I wonder just how professional the results would be using an older version of Audition? I want to be able to use VST since I have a ton of them and V1.5 does support VST. How well it supports VST I don't know. What is the general consensus about the various versions of Audition from those on this site who use it for Voice Over work?... Especially V1.5. I can get a copy of Audition 1.5 online for $50. Would you go for it if you had a chance? Is there another application that would be a better application for VO work rather than Audition? Thanks in advance for anyone's help, Dennis
Jinglemaster
Best editing programme for VO work, without a question is Adobe Audition 3.0. There are no problems with crashes to my knowledge. I have used the program extensively for 3 years and have never had a problem at all. Rather than buying V1.5, pick up an old copy of cool edit pro 2.0. It is the same program and will cost $10 on ebay.
EricVdM
I'm also using Adobe Audition 3.0 for all kinds of things and never had a problem
Gemn
I would just like to add my experience on Audition and the presviously used Cool Edit Pro ... wicked apps ... and as you know Adobe bought Cool Edit Pro ... so all is good ... I use nothin else ... you can also add any DX Plugin as well and they pop up in Audition also ... cheers, Gem
dlt123
Just an update... I did buy a copy of AA V1.5 from eBay. I decided on 1.5 just because my Music system is rather old and I wasn't sure if V3 would tax my computer too much. i.e. only 2 gig ram, slow processor. I also bought copy of Magix Samplitude SE V8 since I am going to migrate to it anyway. So it looks like I have some learning to do. Also, check out the thread I placed in this section... VO and Production Chat, on the upcoming Adobe Audition V4 if you haven't seen this yet... http://forums.broadcastingworld.net/showthread.php?t=9834 Take care everyone, Dennis
jamesdean
AA 1.5 is very user friendly, it was a good choice.
dlt123
Thanks JamesDean... It's rather ironic... The computer that had ALL my music, Station IDs and Skits crashed yesterday. My backup external HD died and I lost all of my Live 5 projects, sound FX and web/music creation software, so I will have to start from scratch. Luckily, I have the original software disks, so I can just re-install. It pays to buy rather than pirate. Since I am leaving Live as my Host, I lucked out and bought an older version of Samplitude SE V8 for $12 off eBay... and found a guy selling AA 1.5 for $15. He only had 3 to sell and I ended up buying the second one. In just 3 hours they all went. I just happened to look on eBay at the right time for Audition. Too cool. Now I will be doing all my VO using AA and will start learning Samplitude for my music creation. I guess my system crash has some positives. cptsparkle
Hi, One question and opinions requested. First, were can I find Adobe Audition V3? Recommendations requested. Secondly, who has an opinion on any of the "Prep" services available. Due to a position in a larger market I decided it would help me trememdously to take the plunge and subscribe to a prep service. What are your opinions, recommendations, dislikes, likes, etc in reference to prep services. Thanks much. Wayne
thekramershow
I use COOL EDIT PRO at home and Adobe Audition v 3.0 here at the station. I would much rather use COOL EDIT PRO than any program I've ever used. Just my opinion.
cptsparkle
Thanks for your opinion Kosmo. I went ahead and took the plunge and bought AA. Now that I've had it for almost a month, I think I created a monster. I would much rather sit down in my studio and create things with AA than I would broadcast. I'm loving my time spent being creative and AA allows the creativity to flow. With the VSTs, as well as other software, the possibilities are fantastic. I've been doing radio IDs and Promo thingys till I'm blue in the face but love it. Thanks again. Wayne
juanthedj
I'm a big fan and avid user of those programs too, cool edit and adobe au. and yes, wayne, you can never go wrong with it. its the ultimate. i don't know about the AA4, if its only for mac. the last news, I heard, adobe wont be releasing other versions anymore, so they created Adobe Sound Booth instead. but IMHO, it didnt have what it takes to surpass Adobe Au! Failed. Juan The DJ

I'm happy as can be with AA 3.1. I also heard this is the last from Adobe.
