Well seeing I asked for this category, I thought I'd start with Mixers.

What mixer do you think is best for someone that is thinking about or just started doing VO's, Behringer, M-Audio etc? Or what do you use?

This is something I am thinking of getting and incorporating into my station. Not sure how to do this yet, but I will be watching this forum for ideas and a learning processes...

Dennis,

I know Johny C knows how to set up a mixer for a station and others as well. If you know which mixer your going to get all you need is a photo or tell them which one it is and ask your questions. I'm sure some of the broadcasters will post more information than you'll need :) You can also check YouTube some of the people have good videos on how to set it up as well. (Note I said some videos, some of them will just make you say, What?)

I'm not sure yet what I will be doing. I have some nice equipment for making music but it's in storage.

At present all I am using is my Zoom H2 USB recorder/mic for doing my Voiceovers. I have other nice mics, but as mentioned, their in storage for now and as far as I know, my H2 might be all I need for now.

I'll take your advice and will pose my questions when time is ready. Youtube is something I hadn't thought about.

Thanks,

Dennis

You can get some real cracking Broadcast Mixers on ebay currently. I mean MEAN machines- not toys!

Stations closing down everywhere, and lovely Desks are up for grabs for less than £500- and worth EVERY PENNY!

Buy something with 4 inch faders if you can.

I am selling off an Eela b'cast desk soon- it is only mono though- but, you can gang the channels together quite easily.

I am in the UK though.

If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net

Thank You!

Arfa, I found an Eela mixer/desk on eBay they are asking $6,000.00. I didn't find to many mixers etc. by them, I only searched the US site.

I take it Eela's are very good systems for broadcasting.

If you're a starter without too many demands, behringer stuff is fine, but as said, lookin into some second hand stuff is always a good thing, because you will often find more for less.

Eela is indeed very good broadcasting stuff, good soundquality and very solid, but hey, everything that is being made in the netherlands is better right? :P

We USED TO ber able to say the same in England! Now, we make nothing!

Indeed Eela equipment is real quality!

Talking of Dutch.... Philips really get to me.... some stuff like their headphones are wonderful, yet some stuff like some of their CD players are dreadful!

A strange company indeed
