Bizzacore
So, this is an idea that I've had for a while now, just got most it put together within the last month and got it live the day before yesterday. Gen2point0 Radio. Gen2point0 Radio streams unsigned metal and hardcore bands from all over the world. Check out the site at gen2point0.com I'm open to suggestions, criticisms and any comments you might have. If you like, don't like or are indifferent about something, please let me know. I'm looking to make this station the best station I can make it. Thanks everyone!
GKIye
Nice to meet you back again ok .. here is my small review : - soundquality : is overall ok ... maybe you can adjust some minor settings - there is a huge difference between the playing of an ID and the next song ... so not all content has the same level In general I like very much the idea of your project ... Just one question : How did you found the stationname Gen2Point0 ? Original it is Visit and listen @ BW !

K4RL
Gotta agree on the normalisation levels but other than that it is spot on and I like it.
Bizzacore
Hey, thanks for the input guys! I know about the normalization issue. Everything is supposed to be normalized to 95dB in Shout Radio Automation upon upload.. and I even went as far as re-normalizing everything in the library, but it clearly didn't work haha I'm going to have to see if there's an issue with normalization, or it's just me. I may have to do some editing on my end, then re-upload the offending pieces of audio. As far as the name, I don't really know where I came up with it. The whole "Gen X, Radio X, XYZ this and that" has been done.. so I guess I combined that with my techie geek side and used 2.0 as sort of an homage to "Web 2.0" type thing? I dunno really.. I'm just kinda making this up as I go =P @balward: it sure is! I can't wait to get some more imaging and stuff together. I'm working with a couple podcasters who are like-minded in their content (with the whole unsigned bands thing) so I'm running their shows, plus my talk show on the weekends. Should make for a cool variety type thing mixed in throughout the weekend. We'll see how it goes this weekend, being the first time I'm doing that hehe
Bizzacore
So, as of last week, I've switched from Shout! Radio Automation to RadioBoss. I started with 4.0, but then got a beta test key for the new 4.5 and it's awesome! Combined with StereoTool plugin for Winamp, that's running in RadioBoss, and the station is practically brand new. What a difference! I have RadioBoss generating a 6 hour playlist of music at Midnight, 6am, Noon, and 6pm and have a playlist of my Short Drops fired off from the Scheduler every 12 minutes (like a rotator). Station ID is also firing from the scheduler at the :50, and the TOH is firing the same at (of course) the top of each hour. I also have my weekend shows firing from the scheduler as well at their specified times. Running 3 podcasts (and possibly a 4th soon) on the weekend. I've gotta say, it's come together so nicely. I do have one question for anyone who might know how to pull audio from the internet automatically. I have RadioSpider set up to pull any mp3 file from a specified directory on my webserver - rename it, and put it in a specified folder so that the Event I have scheduled never needs to change. My question is if anyone knows how to build a page for my website so that the podcast creators can go to my site and upload their show weekly. (OR if there's an easier way to accomplish this whole automated pulling of audio), Thanks in advance! Chris
billh
Hi Bizz, like the site. As far as letting people upload their podcasts. You can review this uploader script. I know it works great, because I have set up it and tested it. Because I've been editing the program to do what I need it to do. You can review it here Maian Uploader Forgot it is also free "I'm Retired" Donations PayPal.Me/artistview . I only do dry reads, if you want FX's you'll have to add them, I might add them. billh
Your welcome, Just check with your host and make sure they allow file sharing scripts or let them know what your going to use it for. Save yourself some trouble that way. Also that site you got is free? Looks interesting, they supply the music as well? "I'm Retired" Donations PayPal.Me/artistview . ajruss
Who are you license with?
Bizzacore
Bill: I'll make sure to do that. I use Dreamhost, and they've been pretty cool with everything I've tried to do thus far. The site is build on Wordpress, but it's using the Genesis Framework by StudioPress. The site itself is free yes, but the framework and child themes cost money. Aj: I don't license with anyone. Since all the bands I run are unsigned, there are no royalties to be paid - if in the case that the band is signed to an indie label, I get permission from their label to run the music. In fact, I'm working with a label called Turkey Vulture Records who contacted me to run some of their labels artists just for the sake of promoting the bands and the label itself. In this case, the bands are very happy (and eager) to send me tracks to play because they're just looking for promotion for the band. It's a great way to save money, as well as help the bands that are busting their hump to make something of themselves. =)
