Amber Alert Ticker

You're Welcome !

I just checked some of the offered PAL scripts ...

I guess these PAL scripts are managed in a better way by using the SAM Event Sheduler.

If the PAL loop is set to "false"

with a config of start automatic "NO"

and sheduled at a specific hour(s) ... it works fine

With a PAL loop "true" the file is set continuous into the queue playlist

Hope this was usefull ...

Hi wildun,

Can you make it so the thumbnail (image) displays under the text? If you can do that I can add it to my pages.

Bill

Hi Bill,

I'll set up one with the thumb underneath and post back. I would assume others may prefer it that way to.

Hi GKEurope,

In their original form they are meant to play once an hour. When no alert is active they play a psa. Would be nice to have a pal that would only play when the alerts are active.

Yep ... indeed thats right

however by playing a psa the service gets free publicity :)

I guess a shedule with the Event Sheduler is more likely ...

but every station does what's the best for them

Ahhh .. The internet radio and Sam. We have no actual real nationwide alert system as internet radio stations, unlike terrestrial radio does, they have the national weather alert system, but I am working on it. :)

I believe you are right, scheduling could cut down on how many times the mp3 plays. It is a psa usually, when no alerts are live, it also rewards the station/stations playing it for their participation. It's not just an advert. By the same token using the scheduler could miss alerts.

The whole point is to get the alerts out as quickly as possible so folks are aware that a child has been taken. Some alerts last days, others last an hour or so. The fact is that if the kid isn't found within the 1st few hours, chances are they won't be retrieved alive if it's a real abduction.

That's why the alerts are so important and need to be aired as soon as possible, that's why the pal script. Once an hour at least gets the message out once an hour. My service helped save one kid, that's documented, that's all the incentive I needed to keep doing it. I think like a parent, if someone took my kid I'd want every possible outlet to let people know and be on the look out.

K- I rambled enuff :)

I managed some things with the PAL scripts

Check my stream at the TOTH - it plays after the BW promo

The scripts are sheduled during morning and evening Your local US time

(morning untill Noon and evening untill Midnight)

Tell Me if that works out for you

Feedback is welcome

By the way ... check my sticky threads about PAL scripts :

http://forums.broadcastingworld.net/showthread.php?t=7199

and look to the most recent script update ;)

I'll have a look GKREurope http://forums.broadcastingworld.net/images/statusicon/user_offline.gif. You always post good pal scripts. Can never have too many.. lol. I'm tuning into your station to have a listen :)

This is an edit. I couldn't get your station on the web player or WMP. Must have tried it at a bad time. Try it again tomorrow.

GK,

We talked before because I couldn't listen to your station on your BW page.

I just went to the page clicked on "Listen Live" (pop up window) clicked the

play button and it didn't work.

2: Listen Live (with MP3 mediaplayer) downloaded the .pls file it worked.

3: Listen Live (with Win mediaplayer) downloaded the .asx file it worked.

4: I can not check - Listen Live (with Quicktime), iPhone or Blackberry.

(Maybe someone else can check Quicktime, iPhone and Blackberry)

5: The player on Reciva Internet Radio will not work for me.

Thanks Bill,

Looks that the popup player is an issue who can be solved by James

BTW = the player don't work at my place eather :( ... it did a while ago

The listen link on Reciva is a .m3u file (aka playlist file)

it works if your media player accept this setting

Main idea about Reciva is : this is a promotional page with the station ID who can be found at the Reciva wireless WiFi radio

see for different models this page :

http://logikir100.tripod.com/recivamodels.htm (you'll find many different types)

NOTE : Tangent is equal to Reciva

Tangent is the radioplayer, Reciva is their network !

Thanks for the feadback !

Hi GKEurope,

I'm slow but not quite dead yet :)

I said I would and I did. I know those are US alerts, if the other countries offer a similar system, I'll cover them too. I'm not bad, but I'm worldwide so to speak. I want to do it for all, I just don't have enuff resources to do it.

Take Care,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Don't misunderstand Me :) ... I'm using your files with pleasure ... but they are sheduled to your US local timezones

To my knowledge no other similar service is offered elsewhere ...

I do remember that I once wrote you with some ideas ... but I've got NO feedback coming from this side of the world

So no problem ... I will keep using the Amber files

Thanks again for your fine work !

Hi Paul,

The wordpress sidebar widget works good on any pages/site. I added it to the side of my pages on Back In Time Blues.

Glad it's working for you BillH!

As soon as I master the wordpress repository it will be there too.

As I always say, it's the internet, alerts are seen/heard from all around the world. The one that hears or sees it on your site maybe the one that saves a kid from harm because you took the time to put it there. Doesn't really matter if you have a station as long as you have a website and someone sees the alert :)
