Reaper Audio Editing Software

I don't USE it but I have tried it. It's an OK and cheap alternative if you are looking for something like that. Gives you extra flexibility over something like Audacity on a tight budget.

I do not like it, though. I don't find it to be user friendly. Reaper makes things complicated when they should be simple. But you get what you pay for.

After my best attempt at even trying to work with Reaper I gave up.

It is less expensive than AA but not worth the time it would take to learn the software to any point of competence.

AA just seems to be a little more user friendly plus the benefits of a multitude of VSTs and the compatibility with external devices.

If you can afford it, go with Adobe Audition.

Just my opinion folks.

Hi JM,

I must disagree on you there. I recently bought Protools M-Powered 8 secondhand for 150 euro's (newprice in stores here is 185 euro's). If i compare that wiith the price for audition listed on the adobe website (which says 415 euro's) i see a price difference, but the other way around like you say it.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that audition is rubbish. I've used it way before i used pro tools, (on a what i think is a pretty advanced level) and sometimes i still use it. If you just want to do Voiceovers, audition is probably the best to go with, but if you are (like me) into creating imaging, then i must say pro tools is the better choice. Having a bigger toolbox with it to do my tricks with, and also it really enhances my workflow... i'm working so much faster with pro tools !

So far I've been using NCH's MixPad software. It's been doing good, but do not like the cash cow they seem to want to make it. Buy it, updates good for 3 months, then if they do a major fix it becomes an UpGrade...more money. To some, that can be a good thing, but to those of us with limited income it becomes, as I said, a cash cow - for them!
