thekramershow
I don't know why in the Hell I put PLEASE ADVISE in that. Now that I look at it, that looks really retarded. I want to begin this with, I have worked in big markets in radio and had a lot of ratings success. In 2001, my partner and I at the time made world wide headlines when we falsley said on the air that Britney Spears had died in a car crash. I know, smart, right? You can read one of the news stories here: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/celebrities/a/britney_dead.htm I am now on my own, doing a TALK show in Springfield, IL at WMAY. www.wmay.com I've been all over. I've been to Dallas, Detroit, San Jose, Tampa, Orlando, Little rock, St. Louis, etc. One thing I know, is radio and how to do a show. If any of you need help with SHOW PREP or would like to talk about radio in general, feel free to ask. I love talking about it. I feel like these days, finding out how to do a show correctly gets lost in the shuffle because radio as a business is focusing too much on the business side of it. They're neglecting the talent side of it, which is insane to me because the TALENT is what these dumbasses are SELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't make any sense. I adore braodcast radio, but I think if you dismiss online radio shows, you're truly doing yourself a disservice. Some of the car manufacturers are starting to pump out cars with built in receivers for ONLINE RADIO STATIONS. That's HUGE and a lot of people in surveys say they would listen to online radio. (Thankfully a lot of them said they want BROADCAST RADIO, but still.) Which leads me to this. Although I do a regular radio show on a radio station, I have an idea for a channel of my own - online. Having been on the programming side of radio, I've never gotten into the other side of it - of equipment, computer programs, streaming, etc. So I have some questions, and some of them may sound very basic. Any help you can provide would be a huge help to me. *) I have some people that want to start doing a show from their computers. A lot of them are asking what kind of equipment they would need to start out. What would you suggest? (The people I am talking about are some of the people that are on my forum whom I've known for a few years.) -----Note: I have a trakmaster pro pre amp. I have a Shure 87A microphone. I go from a USB SOUND ADAPTER into my USB port and it sounds pretty damned good. I don't use a mixer board, because to me that is just another thing to run the sound through. *) What would be ideal website to stream a 24 hour channel? Is that something that would be expensive? Is that something that would be difficult to do? *) Where do I start? HAHA! My Gosh this is going to be a big undertaking isn't it? *) If I wanted to take calls, how would I do that? I guess I could use the mixer, but how in the World do you do that computer-wise? *) If I wanted to get someone else from another part of the Country on my show with ME from their microphone, how would I do that? *) (Outside of the above project) How much equipment do you really NEED to do basic voice work and a talk show? (I use COOL EDIT PRO to record.) ------------------------------- Okay, that's the beginning. I will have a MILLION more questions, I'm sure. Any help you could throw into the mix would be so very much appreciated. Do any of you have online radio shows? This board is awesome! My favorite thread is the one with pictures of everyone's studio. I have a very basic studio, but I will add pics of mine soon.
