mrtaylor
Hi Everyone, First of all I'd like to say what an amazing resource this site is and I am very glad to have stumbled across it. I have found a wealth of information to help me to inspire my class of 15 year old students! I was just wondering if anybody might be able to create any really funky and slick "stingers", "stagers", “voiceovers” (several cuts would be great) or a little promo piece to show the students how they could make a short promotional clip to help publicise and promote our school. I would great fully receive any contributions, completely raw recordings of voice would be good as the students can manipulate and produce for themselves, more finished pieces would also be good as they could maybe be included in the students pieces to give them a professional edge?? (Their task is to create a 45 second clip to promote our college on the radio – we are struggling as it forms part of normal ICT course, so none of us are audio experts!) It /they should mention the school “Treviglas Community College” “visit www.treviglas.net for more information” they might also mention “Education in the sun” “THE college for Cornwall” “home of the surf academy” “Ofsted outstanding” or ANYTHING else relating to it being a great school / college! Any help VERY much appreciated Regards Ben Taylor Teacher of ICT
billh
Hi Ben, Welcome to BW. I don't mind doing voice overs for you to help the students and I'm sure others will do it as well. But if you don't mind could you or you could have the students write some lines for us to go by? Writing takes time and it is copyrighting. Bill "I'm Retired" Donations PayPal.Me/artistview . I only do dry reads, if you want FX's you'll have to add them, I might add them. GKIye
Hi Ben, I agree with Bill ... Try to write it this way : - liner 1 : .... .... - liner 2 : .... .... etc etc and please write how to pronounce in a correct way the name of the college, etc ... reason is = BW has lots of Worldwide different Nationalities, and not all voice overs are native English people by the way ... With the following content nobody can make a liner with an average of :45 It /they should mention the school “Treviglas Community College” “visit http://www.treviglas.net for more information” they might also mention “Education in the sun” “THE college for Cornwall” “home of the surf academy” “Ofsted outstanding” or ANYTHING else relating to it being a great school / college! In other words ... The better your liners (aka content) are ... the better a voice over can make his or her read. ps : Thanks for joining and spread the word to your students :D Visit and listen @ BW ! jamesdean
I can vouch for the school as my daughter goes there! I do not do voiceovers but if any of you guys help when you have a script you will be helping a genuine cause. Treviglas is pronounced as spelt: TRE like (Trair) Vig Las
mrtaylor
Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I have spoken to the students and have got them to provide me with the exact lines that they want recorded. I will edit them and post them in the format suggested. The group are v. excited as I had already played them some of your clips such as “Bill_Voicetalentscout_-_GK_International_ID_demo”. They can’t believe we might get some clips that sound so professional to use in our Projects!! BTW I wasn't expecting anybody to record a full 45 seconds of adlib content, I was expecting to get several short clips that the students could combine with their own audio work within “Audacity”. That said if anybody wanted to have a go at a longer piece that would be fantastic. Many Thanks Again – Scripts to follow Ben

mrtaylor
Hi Everyone, I finally got a chance to sit down with the students and refine exactly what was needed. There are actually 3 different audio pieces being made. A promo for Treviglas College, [Tre-vig-las] A promo for a competition on local radio (Pirate FM) sponsored by Treviglas A promo for the “Public Services Course” at Treviglas;I am hoping that somebody might be able to record the voice for the following liner parts, maybe they could uploaded as a single mp3 or wav file to save you guys having to upload multiple files??? The first Treviglas ones are the most important from my point of view, and if anybody wanted they could obviously be put together into a longer PROMO featuring a random selection of the bunch?? Maybe?? I am not sure if anybody might be able to add any fancy production tricks or if they will be un produced voice clips either would be great!!! Some Treviglas Promo Liners- - liner 1 : “Treviglas Community College” - liner 2 : Do you want your child to have a good education? Do you want your child to have a good career? …….Treviglas ……a good set up for life? - liner 3 : Treviglas Community College ……Education in the sun - liner 4 : Treviglas Community College ……THE college for Cornwall - liner 5 : Treviglas Community College …….home of the surf academy - liner 6 : Treviglas Community College ……Ofsted outstanding - liner 7 : Treviglas Community College…….There is no better education. - liner 8 : Ofsted said outstanding, teachers say amazing, students say inspirational……Parents say the best school in Cornwall, - liner 9 : visit www.treviglas.net for more information Brief Liners focusing on a Public services at Treviglas; [can lead onto careers in fire, police, care etc] - liner 1 : If you choose public services or sport at Treviglas Community College it will open doors to many careers - liner 2 : Find out more .......visit www.treviglas.net Individual Liners or 2 extended recordings focusing on a competition for a local radio station “Pirate Fm” ( sponsored by Treviglas;) liner 0 : Bluetooth Detective liner 1 :The “Pirate FM” “Bluetooth Detective” competition is on. liner 2 :In a random public place the Pirate FM Bluetooth will be turned on for one hour , all the people to send a message will be put in to a draw to win £1,000. liner 3 :So make sure you’re listening in to “Pirate fm” to find out where and when the Bluetooth Detective competition will start liner 4 : “Pirate fm” “Bluetooth Detective” Sponsored by Treviglas College Newquay. ----------------------------------------- liner 5 : Hello and welcome to Pirate FM, its competition time! liner 7 : 3 lucky winners will receive an ITunes voucher worth £50! liner 8 : This is what you need to do………get yourself to the centre of Newquay today between 9 and 10am look for the Bluetooth signal & text ‘Voucher’ to win…….. Good luck! Many thanks for any help available…I really appreciate your assistance and advice so far. Regards Ben

mrtaylor
Dear GKREurope, Thanks a million for helping us out, I really like the "Bluetooth Detective lines". The vocal has a nice "Latin"/"Spanish" sound to it which I think works really well for that particular promotion! Hopefully I have managed the rep thing OK?? I really need a more British/English/American sounding version of the "Treviglas College Promo Lines", so hopefully if Bill (or any other folks) gets a chance I will have it licked!! The pronunciation of Treviglas, ideally needs to sound like Tree-vig-las. I will try and record me saying it - as I can appreciate it might not make sense when written down! Again I cannot thank GKREurope enough. It is a very kind person who takes time to help a complete stranger. When the students are done I will upload some of their finished clips so you can hear how they have used your contributions! Hopefully you will think they have made a good job of their first ever sound project. Kind Regards Ben
mrtaylor
OMG:lol: I just tried to quickly record the pronunciation of Treviglas using my Laptop! They sound awful, and I was only able to save as WMA files, which I was then unable to upload separately. I quickly zipped them and uploaded them this way instead. The zip file contains 3 files 1 Treviglas community college.wma 2 don't give up the day job.wma 3 even worse.wma Hopefully these echo filled, fuzzy recordings that sound like the artiste has just been tortured and beaten , might clarify the pronunciation! They are certainly no good for anything else (apart from telling me not to ever apply for a voice over job! And highlighting how good you lot are!) If nobody wants to download a zip because they are worried about viruses etc. I can convert them to WAVs if I get a chance at school tomorrow. Thanks Again Ben

mrtaylor
WOW! I have just logged in and started to download all of the sound clips!!! We have just had a severe fire at our school, as a result I have had no computer room to teach ICT in for a fortnight....so everything is a bit doom and gloom :( These clips and the positive vibe from GKEUROPE, Bill and LApianoman is a real boost to what has been a real low point. THANKS SO MUCH!!! Now I just need to locate a PC with some speakers so I can listen to all your hard work! (BTW way I just read through the thread with a fellow ICT teacher and he was blown away by your kindness) Kind regards Ben

mrtaylor
Hi guys, Managed to find a PC and some speakers to sit and have a listen to all your clips and they sound amazing. I showed the head of ICT and she was really impressed, she is doing a similar sound unit with an older group - so by the end of the day, they were using your clips that I'd just put on the ICT shared area!! She was so impressed by the forum - as I left they were looking at some of the older posts and learning all about the world of sound!! Thanks for the messages about the fire, it was quite nasty and destroyed 4 classrooms, another 12 or so were badly affected by smoke and contaminents from the blaze!! But ultimately nobody was hurt and the show is going on (all be it in a range of unusual teaching spaces, with some interesting kit!!) Anyway thanks again for all that you have done. I am looking forward to having a go at some editing with the clips this weekend:thumbup: Kind Regards Ben
