hungry4knowhow
Similiar to putting a web address in your browser(which is actually going to an IP address) is there a way to associate my shoutcast server with a .com so people could connect via that as opposed to needing the IP/Port? galaxymatt
edit your domain's DNS record to point to your shoutcast server's IP Matt. http://galaxy247.net/files/outreach_4.gif

indiecore_radio
it could take up to 24 hours to propagate... make sure you delete your cache after making the changes...

Aeolus
You must remember tho, that even if you have pointed a domainname to your streamingurl, you will always need your portnumber... you can't specify specific portnumbers in DNS pointers. So instead of $ip_number:$portnumber it will now become $domainname:$portnumber
NickolasM.
Unless the port is, port 80, Am I wrong? Or could you include a php header, or html meta-tag refresh, to domain:port on the index page?
galaxymatt
changing the IP address in the DNS records will mean that the domain resolves to the shoutcast server and not a web server, so any files that are uploaded to your web hosting account won't be accessible at yourdomain.com to switch back to your web hosting simply change the DNS records back to your web hosts IP (usually in your welcome email and can also be accessed by http://webserverip/~username/ ) , you could then do a refresh or insert an iframe. Another thing you should remember is that if you are using a shoutcast hosting service where multiple accounts are set up, they will also be able to access their streams at yourdomain.com:port Matt. http://galaxy247.net/files/outreach_4.gif
Aeolus
Unless the port is, port 80, Am I wrong? I'm afraid you are... port 80 is the default port for webbrowsing... as far as i know, there's no default port for streaming (but i could be wrong there). If there is one, i don't think it's 80. changing the IP address in the DNS records will mean that the domain resolves to the shoutcast server and not a web server, so any files that are uploaded to your web hosting account won't be accessible at yourdomain.com thats the reason why you create a subdomain here, so that the url pointer to the stream will be something like livestream.yourdomain.com, so that your website is still accessible on the normal domain.
