hungry4knowhow
Obviously bandwidth/network is the number one bottleneck when it comes to streaming servers(audio), behind that what is the next bottleneck? I've been trying to find detailed information on average ram/cpu usage per listener. But am coming up empty so far, other than vague information like zero, none, very little. no facts/numbers. The only number I could find was in relation to port 80 listeners takign approx 20-25mb RAM per spot. Any help host providers/big station people? BWorld
When a massive surge of listeners connects at one time, it usually slows down the server, but I wouldnt really say bottlenecks it. DDos attacks, however thats bandwidth/network. Other than that, there really isnt much to say. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? saint
When IPV6 is fully implemented on a global basis, the bandwidth issue should not be so severe. The ability to use multicast data delivery will be fully integrated within the network protocol structure. Data security and vulnerability should also be improved as well.
