TM101Radio
**CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PROOF IT WORKS** Just wanted to drop another Tip on everyone who owns a station to increase their Own Brands Internet Presence...And in the process it will increase your websites Ranking in google and the increase the reputation of your Station. BE WARNED THOUGH IT WILL TAKE WORK AND DEDICATION AND TIME TO ACHIEVE.. so if that don't scare you then read on...oh yeah but if you have a genuine passion for music all this will come easy On of the hardest things to do with a new website is get link backs (link juice as they call it..lol)to your website which increases your Search Engine visibility thus increasing traffic to your site/stream from search engines... BUT thanks to blogs thats not all that hard anymore...most blogs nowadays allow you to leave comments with a link back to your own website..and 90% of the blog links are dofollow (which means they don't include the nofollow tag on the link and thus google won't crawl/count those links) so basically you can get link juice just by commenting on blogs.. Here is the proper method to use this technique to increase your link juice.. First find blogs I would say as many as you can but 20 is a good starting number)that are related to your site or type of music you play on your stream..(this is the most important thing) there is so many out there so you are bound to find some.. once you find them check to see if they allow for commenting with your web address..if so you're golden.. Secondly subscribe to the blogs Rss feed so when they post a new article you will get an email about it.. Thirdly search thru the blogs and find relevant articles you can comment on..AND LEAVE RELEVANT COMMENTS..if you don't it will look spammy and possibly get erased...Plus if you leave relevant comments you will establish yourself as a reputable person/website...a side effect of the relevant comments is people will actually click on your name/link to check out your site/stream I have about 40 different blogs I visit each day..I set aside about 30 mins or so to do this and I only leave comments on the articles that I can leave a relevant comment on and this has worked out very well for me.. I have established myself and my stream as reputable source in the Indie Hip Hop world.. I even gotten partnerships with 4 major blogs catering to Indie Hip Hop by doing this regularly and now my stream flash player is a fixture on those blogs..so I gain free exposure from my target demographic to my stream and I already know the people that go to that blog likes the kind of music I play..I even been interviewed by a couple blogs and I been asked to guest write on a couple blogs as well.... NOW whether or not this will translate to listeners on your stream Depends.. but It has worked out very well for me.. ***EDIT*** OH ONE last thing the 4 blogs I partnered with I work with them to create advertising packages...so if an advertiser comes to us we have packages that not only will we display there banners on our websites but I will also produce them a 15 or 30 sec commercial and throw it in rotation on the station plus we also tweet their message to our followers and fans on Facebook and Twitter...(and we all have impressive numbers of followers and fans on those networks)..giving them more exposure to their target demographic...I MAKE ENOUGH MONEY OFF THIS THAT I NEVER HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR MY STREAM OR WEBSITE HOSTING(as long as we keep selling packages)..it pays for itself and since all the blogs try to sell their own packages that includes my part I don't have to try to hard to sell, they do it for me.. Our packages are very affordable and very attractive to anyone targeting people that love hip hop music. ( i will touch more on the details of Partnerships in another post)

ThreeWestCreative
Wonderful, wonderful information!! I had an internet radio station way back when it was just becoming a reality and could only get about 10 listeners at a time but even then I thought it was a great online adventure. Now that internet radio has become more reliable and plentiful, I'm able to have an unlimited amount of listeners and I feel like I can really "go big". Your article is one of those little gems that is simple and straight forward and as soon as I get my station at 100%, that's just what I'll start doing. I also realized that if you have slots available, if you offer them to people who are pouring time and energy into podcasts regularly who really would like to have their shows "on the air", that is also another way to grow the amount of people, willing to talk about your station to their followers/listeners/friends/family, etc. Their audience now becomes your audience. And if they've been doing their podcasts on their own, regularly, you have content producers who are motivated to create (without influence from you). The bit about the advertising is fantastic! Thanks!!

Its actually very funny that you mentioned this because this is one of the things I am going to go into more details on in a later post about Partnerships. Like you said "Their audience now becomes your audience" I actually have more then the 4 partners I mentioned and I didn't want to give all the goods away in one post...lol..I also am partners with 3 podcast producers and I air their regular podcasts on my station..and its not all that hard as one might think to find quality podcast producers and approach them about partnerships... ThreeWestCreative
Hahahaha Fantastic! That's true about finding producers who are willing. AllAccess.com has been a good place to find established content producers for me so far but there are many other ways. I look forward to your post about partnerships!
