When you see spam posts

Recommended Posts

Hi here is a plea to all you great members out there. Please help us to get rid of spam posts by simply telling the Admin/Mods when you see them and we will take the appropriate action. We know they are a pain but the Admin/Mods have lives outside of BW (yes its true) so with your help we can deal with the spammers as quickly as possible. Many thanks. Mark

+1! Sometimes I dont catch all of the spam. I try to read each and every article, but there is often so much content that a lot of spam makes it by my filters!

"Admin/Mods have lives outside of BW"

No way, you shouldn't have a life outside BW

Maybe James can setup a forum and anyone that finds SPAM can post a link to it. That would save you guys a lot of time reading every post looking for SPAM.

Or you could just use the Report Post function.

Bill I know...why should we expect to have a life outside BW. !!!!!! We only have a limited amount of time so we put in as much time as we can. We also try and contribute in other ways on the site. All we want is to have BW running as smoothly as possible. If a member comes across spam report it or advise admin or mods or both. Some members are viewing spam as a challenge to beat the admin/mods to find them. Why do this ??? Lets all pull together to eliminate spammers if you post that you have found spam why not simply copy and paste the thread. In this way it would save time and energy. We all want the same thing dont we.

Regards Mark

That's what I did today, I reported the post. I don't look for spam, I find it as I look at new posts and as it's wrong I want to see it gone. Sometimes it's gone quickly sometimes not. All I shall do is use the report post option, that way it's not shown as me trying to beat anyone to it, I also have a life!

Spam posts aren't easy to keep up with esp if some BOT is determined to do it i know that from my Moderating on radioDJ forums 20 odd spam posts appeared within 5 mins last night ..... at the end of the Day a Mod is only human and can only do so much.

User of RadioDJ FREE radio playout software since 2010.

Saw this on another site, it makes sense:

"If you spot a spam post, especially one with a website link in it. Please don't quote and reply to it.

They only post links on forums because the search engines (such as Google and Bing, etc) rate websites according to their exposure on other websites. The higher the rating, the more likely they are to appear at the top of the search engine listing. If you quote and reply to a spam post, you have just successfully DOUBLED the spammers URL exposure on the forum."
