icekuradio
I was wondering how you guys deal with this. I am currently using centova cast. I have a few djs that broadcast live. But when there are gaps in the schedule i turn the auto dj on in centova cast. My stream host offers WHMsonic but i don't want the hassle of having to change all the server details. As it isn't just a case of changing the details its changing it with iTunes as well as 100's of other listings etc. It seems more hassle than it is worth imo. The issue i have is that when we switch from auto - live there is then a gap in the music. How do you guys get around this, does anyone have a solution? Also the other issue i have is that, I am not always infront of my pc when a dj is scheduled for a live broadcast, Which causes problems, as djs do not have access to centova cast to de-activate source. Is there anyways without handing over the admin password that they can kick the auto dj and connect for a live broadcast and possibly turn it back on after broadcast? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as im tearing my hair out trying to find a solution
shoutcaststreaming
There shouldn't be a gap between the music on a DJ change if the DJ Deactivates the Source and starts his encoders on time. Kicking the source when running Centovast is a no-no, as it loses track of the stream and can double post the current playing. We have a program that allows the DJ's to turn on / turn off Auto DJ with NO access to the control panel. It was written in PHP and works really well. You should ask your Stream Host to develop a similar program for you. Details are in the Centova Knowledge Base. As for notifying iTunes, if you have a dynamic PLS file then all you have to do is to change the IP address in that file. No need to write to iTunes each time. There have been several posts on how to do this. icekuradio
Thanks for your reply. I think im going to send my stream host a message asking if this could be something they can develop. I really don't want to allow access to my control panel as you never know what they might do.
shoutcaststreaming
Here's our panel: http://cast.sc9.shoutcaststreaming.us/c9070.php The broadcaster can set different passwords for up to 5 DJ's. Tell your stream host we will sell them the program, and if interested, to contact us.
