SAM Broadcaster Sale!

nah, its not desperate. it is a smart business move. Give everyone a discount on one of the last versions before the next major release. Because with a major release they normally charge current owners a fee to upgrade. My guess is the upgrade fee will be slightly more then the discount they are giving now ;)

(all purely speculation ... of course)

It would be a strange day, indeed, if we didn't hear a dig from Gary against SAM.

SAM runs our station just fine, thank you.

...he is just grumpy because his station got shut down!

The new version of SAM 2013 is incredible. They have fixed all of the issues that we had been having over the past few years. We broadcast to over 20,000 listeners a month via our internet stream and have an FM projected broadcast of over 12,000 listeners. We get quite a few messages with kudos on how rich our stream sounds. I haven't used SAM in the cloud, but we have a purpose built live FM studio and SAMCast does not fill those requirements.

...we have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of. If you can't make the cut with your own station, then sit down and keep your mouth shut and keep your jealousy to yourself! :solved:

Just to add to my previous statement of 20,000 listeners a month and directed to a particular individual who claims that they are "experienced" in radio broadcasting, yet attempt to slander our station publically due to their obvious ignorance. In US radio there is a term called "cume" which is short for "cumulative audience". This is a measure of the total number of unique consumers over a specified period. The technical definition of cume is restricted by Arbitron as requiring a listener to tune in for at least five minutes. According to our stats, that equals over 20,000 listeners a month.

Thanks Jim.

No worries. As Mick Jagger once said, 'Hey, you. Get off of my cloud!'

Hello

I have had nothing but problems since I installed SAM 2013 on Firebird 3 months ago. I have a Windows 7, 12MG Ram, 1 Terabyte HD, Intel Celeron 2.16 server. For anti virus I have malaware bytes and avg, and I switched off the updates.

It runs for 3-5 days and freezes, I get an error 216, and now the stream is not connecting. I also turned the firewalls off to try and resolve it, but it did not.

I am very frustrated. ready to switch to SPL or something else. Do you have any pointers?

Thanks

Alex

If you had read any of the hudreds of posts on the Spacial forums, you would have seen that mySQL is the preferred data base to use with SAM. The stream not connection is not an issue with your database or SAM, but with your stream host.

I've never heard of an error 216. What else did it say ?

Hate to say this but it could well be SAM 2013 at fault I'm seeing lots of posts on the Spacial forums with a lot of unhappy users that cannot get it working properly. Things from Songs speeding up to the program just crashing.

Everything seems to have gone wrong with the rushed release of SAM 2013

I am very frustrated. ready to switch to SPL or something else. Do you have any pointers?

I wouldn't blame you if you switch to something else Alex to either SPL or even RadioDJ as Spacial don't seem to have a grasp on what software is supposed to do....

The 2013 version could be the biggest white elephant ever!

Gary, I'm trying to help him. We all know your feelings about SAM. Please stay out of this and don't be a troll.

Fed up of being called a troll around here .... if that's the best you can come up with or you have nothing Nice to say then don't reply!

Sam Broadcaster is known to be full of bugs and not work properly FACT! I'm entitled to my opinion as a disgruntled Ex Spacial customer!

Excuse me, you you hijacked my thread. I was giving this poster support on his issue. Your attack on SAM and your shameless promotion of RadioDJ was uncalled for and unprofessional. I'll ask you nicely again, please back away from this thread and let me assist this poster.

I am using SAM right now in the studio I am operating in. I find it easy to use and the station has customised it quite well to suit their needs.

I am also have a good base with Pascal at Spacial Audio, his development team are excellent and working non-stop on the project.

That being said, RadioDJ has an excellent developer who works his butt off for his software, and it shows. Both are fantastic software with lots of effort, time and resources going in to keeping both alive. Be thankful that SAM Broadcaster is around to provide competition, because without it, nobody will be creating a damn thing in this industry.

Nobody is a troll, yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but can we go at it a bit better? This guy wants support, not being shunned about the software he is using.

Thanks.

I use 3 pieces of software when I broadcast live and they are SAM Radio DJ and Virtual DJ, last night when doing my show the only piece of software to crash on me was RadioDJ but I must say that is unusual, I have had crashes with all 3 pieces of software.

I think as James said that both SAM and Radio Dj are excellent pieces of software, both have their good and bad points but a combination of both suits me best.

Just seeing this now - have you tried updating to the latest SAM 2013.3(b) version?

It's been extremely stable here for me, and solved a lot of problems.

And from what I hear, 2013.4 should be out soon.

And as mentioned, you should consider switching to MySQL - it's much more stable, and recommended.

In general, you'll get much better support for SAM issues on the Spacial forum, since you have a lot more SAM enthusiasts and the SVS team hanging out there...
