Taking A Break

Hey guys,

As some of you know, I've been extremely busy the past few months. I'm writing this in the private section for VO artists and producers for a reason. I'd like to let you all know that because of losing my day job, I was forced to sell my entire studio set up in order to pay bills. The economy hit me real hard because most of my business was through internet radio stations...therefore I had no choice but to sell my equipment. People just can't afford to hire out for voice overs and resort to recording their own. Good news is, I invested over $10,000 in my equipment and got close to $9,000 for it all. The bad news is, I'm not going to be doing voice work for quite some time, but hey, my head is still up high and I'm not giving up! I've accepted a "job" producing and filming a nation wide documentary on "Religion" and will be focusing on that for a while. Meanwhile, I wanted to put it out there that if anyone has some old or extra equipment that their looking to sell, let me know because I'm going to try and rebuild my studio from scratch. My new job doesn't pay much, so I'm pretty much relying on this film project to cover any studio expenses.

The production company filming this documentary is independent and relies on donations to complete production...If anyone is interested in learning more about that, let me know and I'll send you the press release information and how you can help :)

With that being said, my website is still live and I've received help from other VO artists to still be able to provide voice overs when needed. So I'm thankful for that....hope everyone is doing well, and if anyone needs help producing, I still have the ability to produce voice overs, just not record them.

Thanks all!

That sucks JB, The economy has hit a lot of people real hard. But knowing you, you'll be back on your feet in no time. As for equipment all have at this time is a USB mic, and I don't think that would work for you. But I have been buying equipment from this site http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ They have great deals from time to time, you just need to keep checking the site and get on their mailing list.

Wish you the best of luck with the film.

Hey,

I am very sorry to hear that Jon!

This Goddamn shit recession has hit us all! And the hight street prices for materials have gone through the roof in the UK. One small item from a large UK hardware store for example has increased from 59p to 1.39 OVERNIGHT!

You'll be back - I know it!

Good luck, Arf'

If I have helped you with a Freebie- please be kind enough to add a link from your own site or blog to mine- thanks! http://arthurburton.net

Thank You!

sorry to hear that JB ...

Recession is a worldwide issue, and it take's already a while - since 2008

Everyone is a victum of that bad period in time

As Arf quoted, to high prices etc ... and I'm sure that this don't happens only at the UK but also worldwide

Life of a human being has its high and low periods, We have to accept this even it ain't that easy

and in most of those times friends are suddenly not around anymore, for reason that everyone has their problem

Don't stop your skills as VO ... but start allover again, with a piece of software + some plugins and a mic

With that in mind you gonna be able to cover some parts of what has to be done

Remember, even most of the people (middle class and lower) don't talk about this issue, everyone is a victum of it

Good luck and keep your faith !

Yeah, the economy has really hit me hard. I guess because I was doing so well before, and then lost quite a few major clients of mine due to financial issues, I didn't see it coming. Not only that, I lost my day labor job due to a lay off....so now that I've lost pretty much everything I owned (except my cloths and computers), the only option is starting from square one. It's ok, I have the willpower to succeed again. Funny thing is, my fiance convinced me into starting a landscaping company, and so far thats kicking off pretty well, so hopefully after we get ourselves back on our feet I'll be able to rebuild my studio!!! I appreciate the encouraging words from all of you, and I plan on posting some articles in the near future :)
