Metadata Configuration in Edcast - Zara/Edcast/Shoutcast

I can't get track information to show up while listening to my station. I my case I use Windows Media Player, but it is not set up for any player.

In Edcast, I put txt in the "Manual Metadata" field and it shows up at the bottom of the Edcast interface, but nowhere else.

I see that there is a URL: field and a FILE: field, and I suspect placing the proper info in one of those fileds might fix my problem, but where do I get the information I need to enter, and which field should I use? I suspect it will be the "FILE" field.

I've found others with this question, but no answers. We are streaming, it would be nice to get this cleaned up:-)

Hello GilDelaney,

To get metadata working in a Zara+Edcast environment you can do the following:

In Zara go to Tools -> Options -> General, and where it says "'CurrentSong' file output" select a destination folder.

Then in Edcast, click Edit next to 'Metadata' and where it says External Metadata select 'File' and browse to the file that gets written by the previous option.

Now you should have Zara automatically updating the current playing song into a file that Edcast uses as its feed for the Metadata.

Hope this works.

Hallo!

I've done everything as described above and adjusted.

I use ZaraRadio 1.6.2 and EdCast 3.37.2011.1214.

The sound works, but it transfer not a title :(

As in the screenshot the title is displayed correctly in EdCast, but when I listen the Stream e.g. in WinAmp, the title will not shown :(

What could be the problem?

Thank you!

Edcast 3.37 is known to have Bugs with Stuttering garbled audio and problems with meta data. Download 3.2.1 from my baldyradio address.

Hopefully that should fix it.

Hi I have a older version of zara and i have the version of edcast that was suggested above. Can anyone tell me why I can not get my id3 tags to stream. I went into the zara radio options and under tags I put that i wanted the artist, album, and track title. I also made sure to enable tags. But for some reason all that edcast wants to put on the songs is what I actually named them in my computer and not the iD3 tags. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

[TD]Edcast reads the current playing track in Zara and that is the name of the file, not the Id3 tag. The option in Zara for the name is just for the Zara playlist.

hmm ok well do you know of any other free encoders that would allow me to stream the Id3 tag. The reason I want to have that is because in about two months im gonna be streaming my signal to a sattalite and they require that i display the Id3 tags.

Thanks for letting me know about edcast at least I can rest knowing that i cant use it for Id3 tags. It was driving me nuts.
