Vanlen
Hi I'm getting near launch and I'm wondering of those that have a large sustained listener base use more than 100 slots and what is the general consensus of more is better etc. I've seen 300 to 1000 slot availability. Is that overkill? Thanks for your input. Real AM Radio - Alternative music for the connected Lifestyle www.realam.ca
shoutcaststreaming
If you are just starting out, you probably won't get over 100 listeners in the beginning. Most Stream Hosts will alow you to add on listeners as you grow. Don't waste your money and get too many in the beginning. Our funniest phone call was a broadcaster who was starting up and wanted a quote of 1,000,000 listeners. We gave him the quote, knowing we would never hear from him again. Vanlen
a quote of 1,000,000 listeners. LOL. Okay I understand. Grow as you go. Good to know! Cheers Real AM Radio - Alternative music for the connected Lifestyle www.realam.ca

Wonder if it was the same client who asked us for the 1,000,000 listener price, then was OUTRAGED at the expense....haha! ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? Vanlen
A million listeners would be nice but to be serious if I know I'll have 100 listeners at the get go. Listener number 101 wouldn't be able to listen correct? So maybe 200 slots is more the norm? By the way nice to see actual stream hosts with answers. Much appreciated! I would recommend going with a host that would allow you to update in increments. Almost every host does, so you should be good to get like 125-150 slots until you get close to that limit, then bump it up again. Same goes with 10 listeners, then bump to 25, then 50, then 100, etc. Its best to lower your costs at first until your income is helping with the costs! ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? shoutcaststreaming
Listener 101 would get a "Server Full" message when he tries to connect. Like we said, most stations won't get 100 listeners right off the bat. If you do, consider yourself lucky. I've seen stations that take a year or more to reach 100.
