You can patent a design of something physical, like electronics, mechanical etc. However, you CAN COPYRIGHT a song. And despite what you mayt be told by money grabbing legal dudes- you can do it for NOTHING! You make three or four copies of the song/recorded material. Then you send them to yourself via Registered post, you sign for them- keep te receipts, and you keep the envelopes SEALED!!! Then you can PROVE BEYOND DOUBT that you originated the work, and applyy a note in each self addressed letter with the copyright sign. Simple!
