Broadstar Radio
Recently I bought a second hand USB Turntable (Numark TT) and have started searching ebay and charity shops for various types of music. My question is what should I expect the minimum number of tracks to be for Auto DJ? djgary72
Id say you would need at least minimum of 500 tracks to get any auto DJ to work properly. In my library at present i have just over 12,000 tracks, with rules set to not play same artist for 3 hours = 180 mins and not to play same song again for 10 hours = 600 minutes. I try to keep my music to well known songs rather than just album tracks. Hope that helps. My Blog https://djgarybaldy.blogspot.com User of RadioDJ FREE radio playout software since 2010. Spinny
I run with about 10 thousand songs but am constantly updating the Auto with new music. The DMCA has artist rotation rules and Gary's settings above meet the requirement for that. You can check parts 112 and 114 of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act for the exact wording. I have my auto sam set at 60-60-180-180 in the playlist rotation rules. All Dj's are set to this also with no exceptions allowed. If you are not licensed yet, I would highly recommend doing so. Soundexhange has been making the rounds and e-mailing the non licensed stations. There are several very good blanket license providers including loudcity, streamlicensing, and live365 as well as others. If you are non United States, check with your fellow radio staton owners in your country for licensing requirements. Tom
djgary72
check with your fellow radio staton owners in your country for licensing requirements. Broadstar Radio
I'm looking at going through Streamlicensing. Music wise we are nowhere near ready for broadcasting yet. The website is only a week old so far. BroadStar Radio Twitter Us Facebook We are now listed on the tunein app. Also on Gtalk

Broadstar Radio
Spinney What sort of costs would I be looking at for starting up? A rough idea would be a big help. Spinny
Licenses run 22,50 and up depending on your monthly total listener hours, sessions, expenses and revenue. You can get an idea by going to the streamicensing site and it has a computerized worksheet so u can see what it will cost ya before paying anything. The other costs associated with radio can vary depending on website, automation, streaming, etc. http://streamlicensing.com/ (click pricing and signup) Keep in mind when using any blanket license provider there are strict guidelines for setup that you must follow. Check each providers site for the rules and requirements. The only other option is to pay each of the 4 entities about 500 a year. There are pluses and minuses to both options. Broadstar Radio
So far the usb turntable is proving to be a headache. The turntable works no problem. It is getting the music onto the pc which is the headache. So far 3,000 tracks are in my Library. All in folders be it alphabetical or genre such as bands (brass bands etc), Musicals, Opera, Seasonal (christmas), Classical and religious.
