Hello I would like some feedback on a very easy to use Internet Radio Automation software. goto www.nextkast.com to download and view the quick start video.

Let me know your thoughts and ideas on what is missing to make this a simple internet radio automation winner. The software is very simple and does not use any database system.

You can hear it in action at www.saDanceRadio.com.

Thanks

Had a quick play with it. Its got the makings of being a great playout software system. Maybe add being able to add an mu3 playlist and play more than one jingle.(though you could get away with adding them as categories)

Didnt like the way it copys the mp3's to an other folder. A good idea if you mark the intro's eg and it dosnt touch the main mp3, but could be a pain if you have 1000's of mp3s. Some sort of programmable TOTH events would be great as well. Some jingle buttons maybe for live assist.

Otherwise as I said it has the makings of being a great piece of software

Thanks for the responses,

Sorry, probably no Linux support, although if there is a huge demand might consider a re-write.

johny c. I will take you suggestions seriously, currently tryint to put together a TOTH system and implement Jingle buttons.

Will have an update soon.

Thanks again for the feedback!

As I commented on the youtube, it looks fairly reasonable until you spot the text to speech, no radio station that wants to sound professional would ever use that so it is wasting valuable space where something more useful could go

Thanks for the response.. now I am confused, I removed the TTS in the version that will be released later this month.. Maybe we will put it back in for a while. It uses MS Speech, so you can get a more realistic voice by changing your MS Text to Voice Default voice in windows. Hope to have a new version by end of the month, thanks to all who have sent feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Had a quick play about with it found it hard to use and was baffled by what was what. Didn't like it.

I don't think it's a program worth $129 as i think it still needs a lot of work on it ......

Guess some people will say it's OK but it's just not for me.

Hello Guys,

I appreciate the feedback , but really would like to know what you think is missing. The final version have been in development for over a year now, and I have had many request for features that were implemented.

Which features do you need that is missing? What specifically do you not like?

I have had alot of people email me and tell me they love the simplicity of the software. It is designed to get someone started that has never done this before, we are taking a daring approach by doing it differently, and have found many people that absolutly LOVE the software.

Thanks

Also just want to mention that the video you saw was of the original OLD version, I have just posted a video of the new version yesterday, so in some ways I can understand, if you just saw the video the response you had.

You can see the updated video here: http://youtu.be/O61JFfIuFRw

Keep in mind this is a quick start video and by no means does it talk about all the features available.

Thanks again.

I've seen the screenshots and videos and it looks interesting. I've tried SAM previously and RadioDJ.

What would be really nice is for an automation suite for internet radio stations is a proper featured voice track recording and editing with segue points.

Just an idea :)

So i decided to give this software a try, I must admit it was easy to understand, create rotation & playlist. To hear my station automated by NextKast click on the links below, I did format my station on a 1hr clock with 4 categories, sweepers & ID's. If this software is ready for sale, I'm ready to purchase. Great job.

Is there a more in depth video? It seems pretty simple but guess I need to see the finer points. For example I added tracks to the category folders but all that will play are the demo tracks. Am I doing something wrong or is the demo download not actually functionable?

I ran into exactly the same problems which is why i don't think it's a piece of software worth $129 .... If it was simple and easy to use then yes maybe it would be a good piece of software.

Gary we understand you don't think the software is worth $129, so what do you think is is worth. I have sent you several personal messages to get a more detailed idea of what you don't like, but for some reason you don't reply. You are representing RadioDj free software, it does not give you the right to blindly dis-credit my software.

I tried to use RadioDJ, and to set it up and run my station it was IMPOSSIBLE, It did not make sense to me and was very difficult to understand . It was extremly difficult to use, and so was all the other sofware I tried. So that is why I created my OWN.

It appears on the surface that you are just trying to dis-credit my software because you are threatened by it. I and several other testers have been running NEXTKAST to automate very successfull internet stations. I have allot of emails from all over the world from people who LOVE the software.

It runs my station, www.saDanceRadio.com 24/7.

Sorry Lmarrie, just had to take care of something,

As per your question, did the new tracks show up in the track list, Did you make sure the tags we set properly.

If you still are having problems, I can do a skype session screen share to show you in more detail how to get it working

Thanks

Hi Winston,

It was the tagging issue, I figured it out. I probably won't get to do a full exploration or even broadcast using your software before the trial is up because I have a lot going right now. I would like to try it in a live broadcast before I make a final decision but so far I really like it.

It really isn't that hard to use BUT for $129 I should not have to click around the software to figure out how to use it, nor should I have to set time aside to do a Skype conference (even though it is a very gracious offer). There needs to be either written documentation or a full how to video that users can access at their leisure.

I also think that because this program is so new and basically still in BETA, pricing it at only $20 less than SAM PLUS (an older and well documented program) is a bit high (for now). I feel that with a little more testing and also with proper documentation on how to use it, this will be a great program.

I have been eagerly looking for a program like this as a SAM alternative that had built in encoding and this is probably the one I will go with. Since we are primarily talk radio we don't need a lot of the extras that SAM has.

Lmarie,

Thanks for taking the time to respond and try the software. The software works for 346 hours of operation, so whenever you get time you will be able to fully evaluate it.

My original goal was to make the software so simple that full documentation is not needed and the simple video gets people going. Having said that I will work on some more videos and simple help files.

The SAM version you are speaking about is tied to a stream provider, it will only work with thier stream providers, the lowest cost SAM version that is free to use with any stream provider is $299.

Thanks again for your input.

Winston P
