Using Youtube Videos for a Television show, need help?

Hi, I would like to know if it is illegal to use Youtube videos to create an entertainment show for a television station e.g. "Rude tube". Even if you give credit to the owners of the video and youtube and provide a link to the video while the video is being shown on air.

 

Youtube rebroadcasting section does not provide enough information on this, so can anyone help me to find out if there are any legal issues?

I'm surprised all this time has gone by with no reply on this topic. Let me give you my basic opinion on the subject, Ask Permission of the Video Producer before using it. Make sure they give you permission and certify they own the copyright. Don't use videos that have copywritten materials in them that the producer does not own. Fair warning, if one of the licensing agencies comes after you they are going to win. It will cost you a ton of money to try and beat them.

I had typed up this long drawn out message of that. Wes hit it on the head:

 

1) If they like the idea of you spreading their content, they will tell their friends.

2) CYA, if they are not the original content generators, better with a message from them giving you permission to use their content when the powers that be with the original content generators come a-knocking.

3)Make your presence known. IF they say no, and talk about it? Another person that does want their content spread might hear about you. Personal presence says I like doing this, and I am motivated to make you, the original content generator, found. Off beats will dig that. people with personality will dig that. If you dont see the people that you are a fan of, spreading their content, a fan of you, theirs a disconnect. But thats just my wet-wired logical thinking.
