frankallen
So you have a radio show to do, but you're all out of ideas. Here are five fun activities that are unique to the radio format. Liven it up There is a power to live music that translates well to a radio format. Play a tune on a ukulele or harmonica; surfing listeners will probably pause to see what you're about. Todays the day Research an obscure anniversary, discuss it on the air (on or about the date) and play an appropriate setlist. For example, Alexander Hamilton was shot by Aaron Burr on July 11. Songs that fit the theme include "Bang Bang," "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and "There Goes my Gun." Contest Ask a trivia question with a difficult answer. It doesn't really matter what the prize is; people will phone in the answer if they know it. Come up with a question that people can't easily look up, like "When the Transformers traveled to Earth, which Decepticon stayed on Cybertron?" Interview an Artist Ask your favorite local musician or performance artist to stop by your show for a chat or a song. He'll probably enjoy the free publicity. Interview a Non-ArtistWhy should artists get all the fun? Ask the most interesting person you know for an interview and talk to her about her job or the funniest or most interesting things that have ever happened to her http://i.imgur.com/qrEUBH7.png Check us out http://www.itsjustradio.org

frankallen
I like the idea of the reverse song, sounds like a good compitition to have. I might try that. I generally have loads going on and the other presenters have there own content which brings in the listeners. its hard going at the moment as our last twitter page got hacked and now were starting over on our back up hence very few subscribers :( http://i.imgur.com/qrEUBH7.png Check us out http://www.itsjustradio.org

Parker1028
Also allow your listeners to join you in the studio by utilizing video like Stickam. Video chat rooms can drive more listeners to your station. I have friends on Stickam that have already launched 15 million streams there.

Personally I wouldn't entertain stickam purely on the bad reputation it has, I used to broadcast there many years ago when I was a video blogger but the class of viewer isn't the best, the same goes for blogtv, livestream and justintv. But that's just my opinion. http://i.imgur.com/qrEUBH7.png Check us out http://www.itsjustradio.org
Parker1028
It can be sketchy at times but it does work, or at least the idea of it works.
