djgary72
I tried becoming a member on their forums, and never got an email with my login password, and the reset option doesn't work either. Tried emailing them, and I didn't get any response - guess I'll try contacting them some other way... I've messaged you Isaacl it appears your account on the RDJ forum is activeated so you should be able to log on. Check your Spam/Junk folder on the email account as sometimes the email provider sends it into that folder. nurv
Hmm, I have to check this out! I'm a bit tired of SAM and its tweeks. Freezing, and whenever SAM restarts I have to manually run the PAL scripts for loading songs from our playlist into categories (we do this to easy update our playlists and rotating on a-list/b-list format. PapaBearPW
TRY JAZLER RADIO STAR - Simple is the best! wutzthedeal
I'm particularly interested in this thread. Sam has been a NIGHTMARE for me. I've read the entire internet trying to get it to stop cracking and popping (mostly on my system, but some on the stream) and failed. Buffer settings don't matter, post-processing stuff, drivers, scripts, nothing. So, now I have d/l'd RadioDJ. I also prefer this interface--Sam felt... nerdy? Like too bright; too "industrial." I like the dimmer, cooler look of RadioDJ. I do have a question, though. I saw in an earlier post about taking live calls on your show, but I'm still a little confused. I was using Google Voice with VAC to take calls with Sam, even set up a batch file to open up the four repeaters (really only three are necessary depending on what setup you want). But I'm a little confused about how to set this up with RadioDJ. Can somebody post a basic, quick instructional on: How to take calls live on your show with Radio DJ, VAC and Skype/Google Voice/(whatever call client)? I would greatly appreciate it. Brutish Sailor
Easiest way to do it is with a mixer, and two sound cards. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
wutzthedeal
That's out of the question for me right now; just have to make do with my laptop and VAC. Just don't know how to set inputs/outputs correctly. Actually, I've got everything working now except I can't stand that annoying effing echo of my own voice about 1 second after I speak; calls work, in and out. How does one get that to stop? My current VAC setup is mic to line 1, 1 to 3, 2 to 3, 2 to speakers then RDJ input (there is only one) to 3. (I found this setup elsewhere; I don't know why I can jut run mic to 3 directly). Somehow I had fixed this in SAM; anybody know how I could fix it in RDJ?
wutzthedeal
Still waiting if anybody can tell us how to set up RadioDJ with VAC to take Skype/Google Voice calls on only one PC w/o Mixer. It works in Sam, and works in RadioBoss, but I can't afford either (plus I just hate Sam). Some programs it works on but problem, like with RadioDJ, is you can hear your own voice with varying delays depending on program; need to be able to turn that off. The VAC routing SHOULD do it (mic to 1, 2 to 1, 2 to headset) then 1 to input, but it isn't working. Line 2, in that example, would be Skype, so that only skype goes to headset and the rest goes to non-monitored input of program, then into output. PapaBearPW
You could try using LunarCaster DJ for this. I have never used VAC myself, but it shouldn't be a problem to add VAC to one of the AUX decks. http://www.lunarcaster.com
wutzthedeal
You could try using LunarCaster DJ for this. I have never used VAC myself, but it shouldn't be a problem to add VAC to one of the AUX decks. That looks pretty sweet. I will have to give it a shot; I had briefly looked at it before but I was in "review" mode so I was moving really fast between looking at programs. My show is finally picking up some steam so I need to actually start thinking about putting out a quality product (content is good, but audio and stability suffer in my case). EDIT: everything looked and sounded good but I couldn't connect (my server is tube.us-east.spreaker.com) but it has big potential. Where are help files for connection settings? Help indicator only showed "about." Final Edit: I have decided to settle on RadioBOSS, so although these issues are still legitimate if you want to take a stab at solving them, I'm fine. RadioBoss is the first program I've used that didn't give me such a headache using live calls and VAC from Google Voice/Skype without me having to hear my own voice. Does the rest well, too. That's my new go-to. I was really frustrated with RadioDJ's interface and (seeming) lack of menu options and placement, and Sam failed for me at every turn. I'm sure those work great for some, but considering I've put a good 40-60 hours of my time into just making things work right, I have to suggest RadioBOSS to any that are looking to do a show that 1. Is broadcast live, 2. Must be able to be run from one PC, 3. Must take live call ins from Skype or Google Voice or Google Talk (whatever) using VAC, 4. doesn't repeat your voice back to you--very distracting, and 5. which many DO NOT do, Radio boss allows simultaneious play over of sound effects, like clicking one doesn't turn the previous one off, which I love and it sounds professional. I AM having issues when I try to use the StereoTool DSP but i think it's my slow dsl connection (crackles and pops). Thanks to all who have helped; me and RadioBOSS are going to go enjoy each other now.

FMStudio
We considered too to use RadioDJ, but rejected for several reasons: * Fails for teamwork * Poor support for commercial * Autocratic support forum * Poorly designed database * No proper standards used * Unstable
