Hi. New broadcaster here.

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to say that you folks that have been doing this a while are inspiring. I've been at it a month and I'm just plain tired. I had no idea how much work was required to bootstrap an online radio station from zero.

Thanks for posting to the forums. Your contributions have been a huge help.

Glad to see you around :) Welcome. I've been @ this for years and I'm still tired...it never gets old!If you genuinely have a passion for your project, no amount of time can be placed on the upkeep and maintenance of your station. Enjoy.

Hi Ashworth and welcome to BW forum, as Urban Hitz says yes it can be tiring but if you have the passion you will see your project grow in both listeners and professionalism, it will be worth all the hard work in the end.

welcome Ashworth and I echo the same sentiments as all the above posters ...and I would like to just add that BW has given me the energy to go on even on the darkest, heaviest days ... you come here and read other's posts and you are just left inspired and raring to go ....

LOL, good to hear other people are worn out thought it was just me. I feel better now, misery loves company, but for me the agony is beautiful I love doing what I'm doing. Welcome Ashworth I've already seen you around the neighborhood. What is your station?

@Ashworth welcome to BW. I agree with the others. It has to start with the love and drive other wise it can get frustrating really quick. I always tell myself run the Marathon and not the sprint. Pace yourself or you can burnout fast.

because of royalties, i have to use whats available.

im pretty irritated by the non-sense of royalties. i'm ok with artists getting paid. i'm not ok with the royalties tax that increases your pay-out based on your operating costs. thats just politics. most broadcasters are going to low-ball that number to avoid higher costs. the royalties boards go to the fed and say "look how little they spend on operating costs... its not fair!"

i dislike the industry on-the-whole. i have a lot of fun broadcasting, and i have fresh ideas for making money with it (not ads, believe it or not). i just hate how politics have come into play. so much so, that the good-time broadcaster can't just have fun because some millionaires are convinced that last-weeks' $5 station donation should go to them.

i'll get off my soap box now :D

I like your speak pipe.

Dont let the royalty thing kill ya. Im on the same boat about feelings of it. Keep in mind if your angry enough, theirs allways creative commons. Debated starting a CC radio station a couple of times. Like a scared kid on the diving board, started bouncing, just couldnt hop.

Theirs a bunch of JLA's out their, and they offer decent perks.

But welcome to the grind.
