PapaBearPW
So, I thought I'd stop by and just let everyone know what's going on with LCDJ right now. I am still working on my degree so I have not had a lot of time lately to work on LCDJ. I expect to finish my schooling by the end of this year though! At that time, development will resume. There are quite a few improvements planned for the next version, but I don't want to half-ass anything. Priority must be given to school, so I feel it best to wait until I have finished that and have more time to devote to programming before I try to go any further. First priority will be to release v1.2 Stable. So any help from beta testers in identifying bugs would be great! Please post any bugs here and I will be sure to add them to a list that I will work through as soon as development resumes (sometime around December 2013 or January 2014.) Don't be shy, hit me with every little thing you find! It's ok....I can take it! ;) Thank you, Paul http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
hey Paul, I was very excited when i found lcdj, i was hoping it would be the answer to my aac+ dj software solution for windows 8.1 and it almost was... up until i tried to talk on my Audio Technica USB AT2020 mic I have attached the error message and i am really hopefull that you will be able to help me. thanks! .error.txt
PapaBearPW
Hello, That error is saying that the selected microphone is invalid...are you sure you have selected the correct device in the LunarCaster DJ settings? PapaBearPW
Just uploaded 1.2 Alpha 7 which may have fixed the problem. Go ahead and give it a try. http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
yeah i had the microphone selected in the drop down box. I will give this a whirl tonight when i am not working. thanks!
mringer
thanks for the update, it works great now. I have two issues. 1. a bit of lag when i talk. 2. i play music in the back ground when i talk, and I am used to the music dimming when i talk, i can can do it manually but its a bit of a pain. Outside of those two issues its a very nice piece of software. thanks! Michael "Dj Kermie" Ringer
PapaBearPW
Hello Michael, Thank you! I'm glad to hear that helped. I have not tested LCDJ with a USB mic yet myself (since I don't own one) so I can only assume that (programmatically) they work the same as any other mic. 1. A small amount of lag is to be expected due to audio processing. A future version should allow you to make some adjustments that may help to reduce the lag. 2. The controls for that are next to the microphone button. There are 2 volume controls there. The one with the microphone icon above it is for the microphone volume while talking and the other one sets the volume the music should be faded to when using the microphone. Try adjusting these settings and see if that does the trick. http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
ok i will look into that. I think i saw those sliders.... not sure what i thought they where for but i saw them. and i do expect some latency on the mic, but it seems to be more than what i have on SAM. lets put it this way, i notice it, and i never noticed it on SAM. PapaBearPW
In what way are you noticing the latency (how are you hearing it?) Is it offset from the music compared to the time you speak or is that too experiencing the same latency? Just asking to help me track down what area may be causing this. Thanks for the feedback. http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
Didn't hear it last night, but ran into a different issue. about 3-5 minutes into my show the stream rate changed. I had it set for 441000 it started that way, then everything went chipmunks, and i opened up the server info and the stream rate box was blank. So I had to run and get my other computer and start sam up.
PapaBearPW
That's odd. Never had that happen to me before. The encoders are actually hardcoded at 44100 (except opus which is 44800) since I haven't yet finished the setup for anything else. That's why it changes back to blank in the settings. It's not actually being used. Since it's hardcoded to 44100, I don't know how it could have changed like that on you mid-stream...I'll look into it though as best I can...at a minimum it's a reason to go ahead and finish those setting options. lol http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
We use shoutcast V1 with acc+
PapaBearPW
I'll be working to get the Alpha 8 version out within the next 2 weeks or so. Also, I wanted to mention that when "everything went chipmunks" on you, it probably had more to do with the data rate somehow not matching the data rate on the server and not the sample rate. Either way, I will be looking into that further. http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
your probably right.. 48k 44100 just incasse you need to know. but thats how i had it set. Funny thing is it worked fine on our test server, but the minute i went live with 20 or so listeners it freaked out. not sure if its my net or what. PapaBearPW
I don't know either, but I will run a few tests with aac, 48k, 44100 and see what happens. You say you are running a shoutcast v1 server, are you using a transcoder (sc_trans or ices0) or do you connect directly to the server? 1 http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
i think we are using sc_trans but i'm just a dj so i have no idea
mringer
ok, i am wrong, big surpirse there , we connect directly to our server.

PapaBearPW
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have been unable to reproduce that issue you mentioned. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it either though (my studies are keeping me busy). I will post here again once I have had some more time to test. It still sounds like more of a server settings issue though since you mention you had no problem on your test server. Perhaps comparing the settings on the test server with the ones on your live server will help isolate the problem? http://www.lunarcaster.com

mringer
they looked the same, but i will double check it. thanks!
mringer
Got it working. it helps if you install everything. I apparently forgot LAME and intalled it yesterday before my show and it worked well. here is my current question, using auto dj. does it pull from the play list or do i need to put the playlist into the queu? that is the one thing i am not sure of. outside that every thing went fine. I just wish i could hear myself in my head phone with my talk live music, when i am on the mic.
PapaBearPW
Hi. Glad to hear you got it working. Auto DJ will pull from the Queue first. If the queue is empty, it will pull random songs from the Playlist. The primary reason I have the mic muted locally is due to a small amount of latency. This latency makes it difficult to talk because as you are talking, you hear yourself more like an echo. I am planning to try a few new things with the next version which may or may not eliminate this issue. I'll post back here once I have something for that. http://www.lunarcaster.com
mringer
sounds cool. then since it pulls from the queue first and playlist randomly, can you add the ability to edit song info in the Queue since I tend to load it up, and then notice i have some songs tagged incorrectly that i didn't catch in Itunes? thanks! PapaBearPW
Sure. Since that function should be fairly easy to add, I will try and include it in the next release. http://www.lunarcaster.com
