Is it worth having your station listed on iTunes at this point?

Until they completely do away with their directory sure why not?

Agreed! You, at the very least, will expose your station to people who may nto have ordinarily found it.

I appreciate all of the feedback. We have been listed for a month and iTune makes up 7% of our listeners. I was just trying to see if others were doing well with them? We currently stream at 128k just to be on iTunes other wise we would run 64k mono or 96k Stereo.

In your case where iTunes makes up a small percentage of your listener base it may be worth it go ahead and reduce your stream to a lower bit rate if you are looking to save money, I would imagine it will takes weeks if not months before iTunes gets around to delisting if at all if considering their plans for the directory in the future.

I am considering the lower rate more for mobile usage, but I will wait another month to see if we top out at 7% on itunes, then i will go from there.

Everyone thank you for the input. I went from 128k mp3 to 64k aac. It was not so much about the cost but more about wanting a stream that was mobile friendly. I think 64k aac is a happy medium between quality and data usage.

Keep in mind a few things AB,

First and formost: Got to have the right query for the right players with AAC+.That or a player that supports AAC+ written in HTML 5.

Secondly: Tune in supports AAC+, maybe a thought if your using it.

Third: Did some experimenting with Phillipe a few nights ago. I switched to 48kbps AAC+v2, it seems to mask any of those wild artifacts from the original file. Output here:
