Sam cast is a standalone item. Its very brilliant, but very flawed in its documentation, and lack of being simple. It was made to work in part with a standalone source, similar to Winamp with its DSP. But for any source. The idea is to map the audio source, and metadata. But it just got too complicated for me.

This makes me crazy, as by therory, this program should be perfect in every way for people who use mixers. Route the audio through a mixer, and even if your running two computers, have an way to map the metadata from comp a (via the internet, to the computer broadcasting (grabbing that metadata)...

But everytime I would try it? It would just piss me off. My trial period with it was pointless, as I determined for its functions, its just not for me.

Maybe now, with my skill, I could wrap my head around it a little better, but now the builds of Jaramando edition Edcast seem to have surpassed it. Though that edition is still a little shakey at times pulling meta. Hes improved a lot of the code.

Its going to make you a little mad too. The best standalone product out there for broadcast (hands down) is probably the stand alone AAC+ encoder built by orbin, that is very smart with its text writing to stream decode. BUT, it cost money as well. As well, THINK THINKS encoder is pretty sweet, but it works for servers setup for Winamp encoder, (Icecast can be reconfigured this way with a little plug and play work.

Im personally a fan of lunar caster. But different strokes for different folks.

What are you trying to use as a source. Maybe I could make a walk through video of how to do it.

I really need to get back into my hobby caster video making.
