bobdavcav Posted July 15, 2013 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Hi all, Well, I just got around to downloading Play It, and so far I am not impressed. It seems like something I want, but I can't seem to use it. Are there any other blind or visually impaired users on here that can direct me as to a system I can use to maybe start a station someday? Right now I'm just playing around with systems, but would like to have one that works. Can anyone help? Play It looks fine, but the problem with it is the interface to add new tracks to the log all seems to be drag and drop, which doesn't work for me. I've heard some good things about Zara Radio, but can't seem to navigate their site very well. If there was something out there like Play It Live that maybe has a better scheduler and allows voice tracking that is fully keyboard accessible and available for free, that would be great. I also know of a totally blind person that uses Station Playlist, but I am not in a position to shell out $130 for that at the moment. I've heard the demo runs for 8 hours, but I was on a Skype call with another friend a few years ago that had the demo running on his machine and the activation dialog kept popping up at almost every keystroke. That would get really annoying really quickly. I'll see what I can find in the link in your signature. I must agree that, currently, PlayIt Live does not currently support keyboard-exclusive operation. I am currently working on the scheduling interface so will ensure this is keyboard friendly. The current problem lies with the fact that the 'buttons' are images and are not recognised as "tabbable" by Windows. I'll look into this for the future. I dont know what kind of dance I just went though to get to that first window, but I just ripped my hair out in the process. I must really be missing something here with this program. I've made a note to suppress these errors for a future version of PlayIt Live. Then, I went ahead and registered, did the back in forth dance with computer registration (it is the year of privacy, and I wont lie, giving my computers info on the net makes me edgy) then I finally logged in after a bunch of back and forths with the key good for one day. What Im trying to understand (and Im sure theirs answers, just not obviously blairing in my face, as all great programs seem to do) is what this program does beyond the same thing the Michas Jingle maker does? I need to play with it again, just dont feel like going through the registration dance. Again, not questioning anything about this program, not yet. Face value, I felt a little betrayed to go through all that to get to a play on demand sound board looking thing, without any 'in my face' ,"Heres how to make the automation work". I'll read the attached documentation, give it another shot. Im bringing back the hobbycaster videos, and I'm gonna do a full review once I get time. Hi there, I am sorry you have had so much trouble with the registration process. There have been over 2000 licence registrations, the average time from registration to up-and-running is 2 minutes. It is a shame you felt like you had to jump through hoops to get the program to work. The software offers 2 modes, classic carts and live assist mode, which can be changed in the Settings. The classic carts mode is a simple drag and drop system where you manually start and stop each track. The live assist mode allows you to queue up tracks and play them back to back. it is the year of privacy, and I wont lie, giving my computers info on the net makes me edgy Your Machine Code is a hash of various components from your machine. This is a one way operation to generate a fairly unique code for your machine. It is not possible to determine the original values from the code, none of which would compromise your security anyway. with the key good for one day. I'd like to clarify that your licence key is good for a year, I'm not sure why you felt it was for a day? Feel free to post any further questions and I will do my best to answer them.
