Gadfly
I currently stream at 48 Kbps AAC and I think the sound is quite good considering the low Br. But I think the 'perfect' bit rate would be 64K. And with a lot of people (54% in Ireland) now using smart phones, it has to be the way to go. Any thoughts? dotme
I run 64kbps too - I sense most of my listeners are in the office. A 64kbps AAC stream is gentle on bandwidth (less likely to rebuffer) and "good enough" for most PC speakers, especially in a noisy environment. I think there's a point (probably higher than 64kbps though) where you run out of advantage with AAC+ Perhaps around the 96kbps mark, higher bitrates probably don't add much more. Not an expert in that arena though
Brutish Sailor
AAC+? I run 48. I find for some reason if I take it to 64K, the silence isnt as silent. Im not really an audio engineer, so its hard to describe, but its like I dont hear true silence, especially on quick VU transitions. Im actually debating getting an AAC+ orban setup. Heard their audio through the opti-codec to their designed flash player, and was pretty impressed. Their 32kbps AAC+ stream OBLITERATED my 48kbps quality. http://www.orban.com/flash/orbaneval/FLVplayer.html KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
Brutish Sailor
Considering this audio is being pulled from Audio source, and not from direct file transcoding (basiclly being transcoded 100 percent live.) I was HIGHLY impressed with 32kbps. KNSJ.org / 89.1 FM San Diego
Urban Hitz Radio
I don't really listen to AAC streams much. At home or at work, I preferr higher bandwidth. I don't even tune into my own stations 64 AAC+ stream much. The only time I tune in to my AAC, is if I am listening thru AudioRealm It's just there to give people an option. A lot of people like it, but I prefer other, Since i am surreounded by bandwidth that doens't limit my options. With an external player, I prefer WMP, since it has great output. Either that ur listen to a station thru TuneIn. -- JE .::.(())::. Urban Hitz Radio™ USA .::.(())::. The People' Choice for Hip-Hop & R&B! Gadfly
I'm using a 64Kbps AAC+: http://www.reliastream.com/cast/start/urbanhit Thanks for your link with Reliastream. I am actually thinking of increasing my bit rate to 64 K and wanted to know what it would sound like with them.
