OwenND
Hi, Sorry to hear you'd been unwell. Suffered in a similar way myself. I intend to get back on air as soon as I can after a three year break. Low power FM. I had used ZaraRadio (free) for about four years which served me well. I've been trialing several softwares including RadioBoss and Sam. Both seem to be running pretty well so far. Yet, I have read on several forums neither of those two get any or much endorsement from you, many of the threads becoming rather hard to follow as everybody chimed in turning it into a bit of a rant. The main thing I have against paid software is that after paying for them you are restricted to using them on one computer. In my Zara days I had two computers with an identical set up so in the event of a crash usually caused by windows it was simple to switch over to stay on air. Maybe it was hardware problems but I had a bit of a mission getting RadioDJ up and going. To be fair I intend to do a clean install on another computer of RadioDJ. I'm not trying to start another donnybrook but am interested in a brief summary of your pro's and con's of RadioDJ, RadioBoss and SAM, without having to dig through lots of old threads. djsoft
The main thing I have against paid software is that after paying for them you are restricted to using them on one computer. Most paid software is not limited to one computer. By the way, I myself have lots of paid software installed and none of it is locked to one computer... → RadioBOSS Radio Automation Software: http://www.djsoft.net → RADIOBOSS.FM Icecast/Shoutcast stream hosting. djgary72
Someone asked the question about a Linux version on the RDJ forums A Linux version won't be happening anytime soon.... I only wish there was a way to run it on Wine That won't be possible either until .NET starts working on wine. I tried again yesterday even with MONO installed it still won't work correctly. There is nothing stopping you using it in a VirtualBox environment it seems to work rather well for me...
