djgary72
I'm not wanting to start an argument here so if all your going to do is argue then Jog on! Have you ever noticed just how restrictive the SAM Broadcaster EULA licence is? It appears it's very restrictive. Even after you've paid Spacial the money for the program you don't actually own it. They do. Spacial won't allow you to run more than 1 station per licence key. That sucks. Esp if you think about the costs involved. I saw this post on the SAM Broadcaster facebook page. http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Screenshot-040714-110519.png I find this quite frankly laughable that even tho you've paid through the nose for SAM broadcaster you then can't run more than one station with the software. That's if your lucky enough to get it working properly. Running 3 stations using SAM Broadcaster pro = $897 or 3 stations using RadioDJ = Zilch! Not a penny. That's why RadioDJ is so much better because the user licence in RadioDJ doesn't restrict you to the amount of copies or stations you can run. RadioDJ has full website capabilities including web requests. Along with some great features that simply aren't there in SAM broadcaster. My advice: Think about using RadioDJ instead of SAM broadcaster if you have more than one station. The money you save can be spent on other stuff for your radio station. BWorld
SAM is quite pricy (nothing compared to the Big FM softwares), but it is a OK product. It does what you want and I think its easier to learn to setup. Its basic. RadioDJ isn't that hard to learn, but I think the most difficult portion is setting up the SQL database and "hooking it in". My opinion is that if RadioDJ could make an upgrade tool, it would be used even more. I understand the MySQL licensing issue, so that won't be an option to auto install and configure, but as part of the "installation" maybe give step by step instructions. Just thoughts. Overall I definitely like RadioDJ better now that I use it and haven't reinstalled SAM except to make some tutorials. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? I did a tutorial last week about installing MariaDB which has fewer option than MySQL when it comes to installing that part of things. It should make life easier for newbies. Upgrade tool?? Do you mean to be able to update the program or database? The new versions of RadioDJ now have an auto updater for the program if that's what you meant. There are more than enough video tutorials and manuals for people to look at and read if they are really stuck getting RadioDJ setup. Plus the forum usually helps the userbase over on the RDJ forums are a great bunch they will help anyone trying to get setup. djgary72
Hi Gary I looked at Radio Dj I still have a copy but found you had to install a third party app to actually stream is the latest version the same or are the encoders now part of the package. The encoding is can be by a Plugin which can be found by searching the plugin section of the RadioDJ forums. It's not that hard to install it. I did a tutorial on it http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/radiodj-encoder-plugin/ I currently have it running on 3 local shoutcast server with no issues whatsoever Although you can also use a standalone encoder with it just as easy. I like Altacast standalone for doing some of the encoding with that plus Virtual audio cables and it works great for me. RadioDJ isn't the big beast people think it is once you learn how to use it's fairly easy. So you might have to install plugins to do various jobs with RDJ but that's where magic happens. The plugin structure was the best thing to happen to RDJ. My Blog https://djgarybaldy.blogspot.com User of RadioDJ FREE radio playout software since 2010.
