We've just started up a little service which allows you to automatically post the songs that you are playing on your radio station directly to your Twitter account. Our scripts can pull the song title directly from your Shoutcas (v1 or v2) or Icecast (or any other location, .txt file, etc...) and then post it to your Twitter account automatically at a period that you define (every 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, etc...). You also get to specify the text that is published and include hashtags, etc... It's a great way to attract listeners to your station as they see what song you are playing and may choose to tune in if they like what you are playing. We're also beta-testing adding Amazon affiliate links to the posts which will allow you to not only post which songs are playing, but also monetize your Twitter channel. djgary72 Posted July 15, 2014 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Good luck with that we trialed a similar service about 2 years ago there weren't many takers at the time. Think we only had 2 customers in the space of 4 months. Wasn't paying the bills so we stopped offering the service. The scripts are out there in the wild and easily acessable for others to host it themselves that's your biggest hurdle. Changed my twitter script to something else other than #NowPlaying! The stations we currently serve had been struggling with getting it all set up, hence considering offering it to the general public. I guess we bridge the gap between stations that want to offer the service but can't/haven't go the time to do it, hence why there is a small charge. Regarding infrastructure, we have the space/bandwidth so we don't have to worry too much about what it costs to run. We just wanted to offer the service to people who found it too difficult to set it up themselves. I ever had a Twitter account - at the time Twitter was launched - and used an auto script who worked perfect to send updates to my Twitter account (currently I don't use Twitter anymore ... I got rid of it ... too much fake followers) With similar scripts they all have the same probs ... An user have to run the php page at all time at their pc to stay connected with the Twitter account (so to send the updates) For that reason those days I sheduled the updates every 15 minutes But with available "hashtags" it can reach a huge group of people Twitter users and broadcasters write down these hashtags : #TuneIn #RealRadio #theworldsradio #tuneinradio The hashtag #theworldsradio drops Your updates at this "interesting" account : https://twitter.com/hashtag/theworldsradio This service can be used if broadcasters have a TuneIn station page With the share button You can add those hashtags ... We've been doing some work on improving our service and in addition to just automatically posting the "Now Playing" songs from your radio station to your Twitter account, we can now also: - Dynamically replace the the artist/band/groups name with their official Twitter account (Get more retweets!). - Add an image of the artist/band/group to each tweet. - Add a "Buy this song" link to each Tweet (monetise your Twitter feed!). Our service works with Shoutcast (v1 or v2), Icecast and Radionomy streaming servers and we also support most playout systems (SAM, RadioBoss, Station Playlist, etc...).
