Do Bands Such As MCR Encourage Suicide In Teens?

Ive heard too many sorys to tell about teenage suicide and how it relates to their life and music. But no stories about which is most causing it? Is it the music encouraging blood, gore and death or is it more their life?

My Chemical Romance have spoken out about the suicide of Hannah Bond, the 13 year-old fan of the band from Kent who recently hanged herself.

At a hearing about her death coroner Roger Sykes suggested that Hannah Bond’s suicide was linked in with her apparent obsession with emo music, saying that he found the overtones of the genre "disturbing".

Theres my proof.. And just listening to the lyrics wants to make you feel like.. well.. shit. :blink: Should the genre EMO be banned from radio, tv and downloads all together? I guarantee that all emo kids listen to that type of music. Its crazy...

Personally I think My Chemical Romance are a terrible band, and they're music is incredibly depressing. But clearly, there is a love for it among 'emo kids'. But yes, if it is the emo genre, and bands like My Chemical Romance who are responsible for stuff like this, then yeah it should be banned. All the kids who love My Chemical Romance, I can almost guarantee, will self harm, for stupid reasons. They can have no problems with their lives, but they will make problems for themselves, make it appear that they have terrible lives, when really, they couldn't ask for more. They all seem to have this ridiculous obsession with self harm, and showing each other their scars.

It's weird

In the UK, the newspaper The Daily Mail caused controversy when they posted this article;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-400953/EMO-cult-warning-parents.html

which is basically warning parents of the dangers of emo music, and My Chemical Romance.

I found this whole scenario completely ridiculous, and what made it quite funny was this;

http://nme.co.uk/news/my-chemical-romance/37009

Apparently hundreds of My Chemical Romance fans protesting outside the Daily Mail's offices in London.

These kids clearly don't realise that The Daily Mail has always been a controversial newspaper, which always wants to spark a moral panic amongst it's readership.
