Yeah i've been following the Internet Radio Equality act with skeptisizm. The problem is we're expecting our Congress people to do whats right when most of them receive campaign funding from the Labels! They are not about to slit their own throats...this is why over a year later nothing has changed. The 2 Representatives who proposed this did not receive monies from the RIAA or the Labels.

And I doubt anything will change if Hillary or Obama make it to the Whitehouse. Hillary gets campaign money from Sony BMG and Obama from Geffen...and they both got money from the RIAA! It's all in the records of their campaign contributors!

So the jury is still out on wether or not anything will come of this! But I remain doubtfully hopeful!

PS: My question is...why cant Internet Radio be considered the same as AM/FM radio? What we do is no different than they with the exception of commercials (in most cases). And yet terrestrial radio pays NO PERFORMANCE ROYALTIES! They make loads of cash but only pay a small Composer/Producer royalty fee. In fairness I think Internet Radio should get a blanket license similar to terrestrial radio and similar royalty structure or a small percentage of income.

Just my opinion...your opinions may vary!

I have been following the IREA for a really long time, and honestly congress doesn't hold a whole lot of weight with this issue. Mainly, because it's a block for the United States of America, most broadcasters aren't in the United States of America.

Even if congress passes the bill and it's accepted, they can't do anything about the broadcasters in Canada, Australia, Japan, or any other country for that matter. Internet radio going quiet is something that isn't going to happen. They are also violating the American peoples rights, the right to free speech. They aren't going to anything.
