James
Well. i can certianly say yes, because already, cars and people are connecting to the net from remote locations and wirelessly with huge coverage. Why not? i say 10 years time, we will have computers in cars and deals such as free 6 month connection to internet. Dont ask me why i thought of it but it sounds reasonable.. What do you think? Mott Productions
That is very well possible. Internet Radio still has a long way to go before it will ever truely compete with fm radio. No offense to internet radio station owners though. -Patrick

MADcHATTER
AM (Amplitude Modulation) radio was the the birthplace of the medium and was the core of the business for almost 50 years until FM (Frequency Modulation) radio became standard equipment in cars in the late 1970s. Since then, the superior sound quality of FM and the dominance of music as the primary entertainment format in commercial radio have steadily diminished AM's attraction. AM is now primarily for Talk Radio and Sports broadcasting in the US. As the forced move to Digital looms closer, the possibility of a rebirth for AM and FM is possible. At least thats what their hoping. Personally I believe that one day AM/FM will join shortwave as the medium of hobbyists. FM Stereo digital will probably be around for awhile especially in cars. But with the advance of technology allowing Satellite and Internet Radio in cars, and with CD and iPod interfaces allowing the traveler their own selection of music, the medium will probably wind up a 3rd choice alternative. Face it...FM just doesnt play everything the listener wants to hear. The basis of any competative marketplace is choice. By providing more choices you appeal to more people and can gain a larger marketshare. This is basic economics and will be the driving force behind where things go from here. The Internet has fueled this revolution. There has never been a single larger force of technology allowing people from all over the globe to interact with others. The Internet can be a truly unifying utility or, our worst nightmare. It all depends on how we use it. Internet Radio is bringing people together culturally, musically and even spiritually. No matter what they do...AM/FM will never have anything beyond a local impact within it's broadcasting range unless they also stream on the net. The net is global, any internet station that starts up with nothing is already broadcasting to a worldwide audience. This in itself means that AM/FM or Terrestrial radio just wont be able to compete! Millions of dollars of equipment changes wont change the fact that even Digital Radio on the airwaves, cant compete with a single person on a computer broadcasting to the world. AM/FM transmitions will always only be a local phenom. In my opinion of course!
