How do you generate revenue for your station?

Recommended Posts

Hello All... I have a online radio station I started with a friend as a hobby, and TLH has been averaging about 6,000 these past few months which is a lot more than we ever expected. Since this is all coming out of pocket we are trying to generate some ideas to get some revenue going. Other than a donation button on our website, is their any other ideas you guys can suggest or methods you use to generate revenue? Thanks :batman:

We have been averaging about 18-20K TLH a month for the past 10 or so years. We do get the occasional donation via our PayPal button here and there, some of them have even been quite generous and have helped to drive us to continue to do what we do.

I also recommend you getting a Google AdSense account and start posting their banners on your pages. If you use WordPress you can easily tweak your SEO to improve traffic to your site. This in turn will increase your traffic to your banners. It is enough for us to cover our web hosting each year, so at least there is some additional revenue to offset the operating costs. There are various way to monetize your site, but IMHO you risk becoming "commercialized" and that in itself puts off listeners. If you are in it for the money, you will probably end up disappointed.

I guess getting into the meat of asking yourself the question, why you want to do it in the first place?

Here at andHow.FM, it is all about the music.

Where it's *ALL* about the music!

A world-class, always eclectic, commercial-free, alternative, modern, retro, indie rock radio station.

Jamming the free world, one person at a time since 1998. Got Indie?

Hi, just curious to know how you've got your figures up so high? 20K TLH is pretty good :)
